Towne Deli & Pizzeria — Restaurant in New York

When I was a kid, I always wondered where the pizza the schools served in pizza parties came from since it was the best thing I ever tasted. For many years until I went to college, I would search for this pizza with my late father by going to every pizzeria that I knew about but to no avail, I never found it. By the time I went to college, I forgot about this dream and simply gave up, little did I know what the future had in store for me.

I first found out about Towne Deli when my Uncle suggested I order heroes from there. Whether it be the Italian or the American heroes they were both sublime but my Uncle further suggested I try the pizza there. At a later point I did and found the plain pizza was delicious. It had that same sweet and savory taste I remembered from when I was in PS3 Elementary School. The possibility was in my mind now: That this was the pizza I was looking for all along back then. Eventually my suspicions were confirmed one day when I was at my job at Snug Harbor. There was an elementary school field trip taking place there and a lot of pizza was ordered. To my surprise, it was from Towne Deli which is on the opposite side of the island. Later on, when everyone was done with the pizza, I was offered some of the myriad of leftovers that remained. Once I had a few slices, I was taken back to the days my elementary school had those pizza parties. I knew at that point that Towne Deli was the pizzeria I was looking for all of those years ago.

Ironically, when I order from there nowadays, I order an Italian hero with bacon and pepperoni added on it. Ultimately, I would say the place's strengths are heroes and...

Beyond disappointed. I've been coming to them for at least 10 years and never complained about anything I've ever gotten even if I wasn't 100% satisfied with the order. Today I placed a "to go" order spending over $26 that was wrong. I asked for chicken cutlet Milanese's w fresh mozzarella and a side of pasta with garlic and oil. I called up to see if they could correct it since not only was it not fresh mozzella, it was chopped up and mixed in the pasta that was supposed to be "on the side". not only was i on hold for 10 mins waiting, but before the girl could speak with the manager, she already knew I wouldn't be helped and said "I'll talk to the manager but there isn't anything he will do". He finally got on the phone and was told what I ordered was how it was made there. So I said well I looked on the menu and what I asked for isn't even on the menu so how would I know that's how you make it without telling me that? He went back and forth for a few minutes and finally I asked how he can rectify this and his response was that they can give me what I want but will change me again. So im supposed to spend more money at their establishment? Sorry but no thanks!! I took my business to another place and got exactly what I wanted. You don't treat loyal customers like that!!! They lose 3 very good weekly customers...

DISGUSTED by their customer service. Placed a large order today, 150$ ,when I received the order the ravioli had meatballs which I specified no meat, they also forgot a kids spaghetti with butter sauce and instead sent a small container of penne with marinara sauce as well as a wrap which was supposed to have grilled chicken but was sent with fried. The driver called while at the house, and said that we needed a new order of ravioli, and order of pasta with butter sauce. He was told he needed to take back the small dish of penne and the ravioli. Shortly after he left to get the new food, we called the store to inform them about the wrap and that we needed a replacement. An hour goes by and we call for the status of the new food & we were told that the wrap was coming but they were told we didn't want the rest of the food which was not true!! After an hour and a half of waiting we were told that they weren't sending the new food, but the wrap was coming and they didn't charge us for it, which they shouldn't have in the first place because they were wrong! Terrible customer service, will never be ordering from here again. Not to mention the prices on their menu on their website and the prices we were charged on the receipt do not match up. AWFUL. Terrible service...
