We are visitors from out of state. Wing Wah is pretty good chinese food. More suited to someone on a budget, who can't afford better food, I think. I liked the Lo Mien Noodles but my wife's General Tso's wasn't that good. We shared it and it was way too crunchy. The restaurant inside has a very dirty appearance and it only has 1 place to sit. The only reason we stopped here was to support this place, because we saw the video of the manager getting bullied. His name is "Lin Jie Chen". He was bullied by a teenager in a viral video while delivering food. Just look it up online....
My wife understands chinese and she thought the staff were a little rude. They were telling eachother "this customer is annoying". and they also said "I didn't like that customer" in chinese. She said they were bashing customers in their native language. I think thats kind of ironic they would do that, considering their manager got bullied in that viral video. It also makes me wonder if they didn't say something to anger those kids and provoke them. It doesn't show everything in the video. I am not saying they did, but after my wife heard them talking about customers like they did, she was a little upset. They were saying some very mean things. "LinJie Chen" also annoyed us and kept talking to us and asking my wife how she speaks mandarin chinese. She told him she studied mandarin and still does. He replied "I thought americans couldn't speak mandarin". Uhh.. OK. I hesitate to give them an average rating. They are more like... in the 2 star range. Not very...
Read moreI have been getting food from this restaurant for about 8-10 years, and there are many positive attributes about this establishment. The flavor of their food beats the other Chinese restaurants nearby and never have a gotten sick from it, NEVER, unlike another restaurant on first ave and 116th Street. Even when they were hit with a C grade from the health department, I still went loyally with the understanding that this could have just been paperwork that was missing or maybe even a one time minor issue. Again, I did not get sick. They have always delivered food promptly and there has literally never been a time where me or my family's orders were missing items or messed up (which is kinda strange but still incredible and very impressive).
So, like many Chinese take out restaurants, there isn't too much seating, which is kind of a bummer. It probably makes it easier for them to clean, but it would be nice to have more seating options. Other than that, I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a healthy and affordable meal with pleasant and...
