SAPOARA Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in New York

My experience at this restaurant was one of the worst yet. I’m shocked that they have as many stars as they do. When my husband and I first entered the restaurant it took as about two minutes to find a waiter to even acknowledge our existence, but we was eventually told we can sit any where. It wasn’t crowded, but it took another 10 minutes to be addressed again so we could order our food. I wasn’t too upset about that especially because once we were able to get the order in the food came out pretty fast. I had fish tacos for an appetizer and it was the worst I ever had. I will admit the waiter seen that I was not happy with the tacos and offered to replace them with something else, but I declined because I thought my husband was going to eat it, but it was bad he couldn’t eat it either. I order seasoned fries to go with my tacos and received some sort of cheese fries. They were good but not what I ordered. So I could get something besides fries in my stomach I order the salmon bites and it was worse than the fish tacos. It tasted like it was cooked in old grease and had no season on it. While we were eating I noticed one of the guys from the kitchen haul two bags of trash through the dining area to the dumpster in the back (health code violation). Then what took the cake for me was when I went to the bathroom and realized their soap was water down. It literally was all water with a little bit of bubbles at the top. Now, I’m wondering if I can’t properly wash my hands after using the bathroom how did the guy in the kitchen who took the trash out, or the cook, or the waiter who handed me my food. I visited this restaurant for the first time yesterday evening with my boyfriend. We entered and were greeted right away and asked if we would like to sit in the front or the back part of the place. We decided to sit in the front by the bar. Our server was Jordan and she was the absolute BEST!!! From the onset, her personality just exuded hospitality, sweetness and attentiveness. We ordered the wood roasted wings, fried jumbo shrimps with tostones, fried shrimp appetizer, a Hennessy sangria and a passion fruit margarita. Everything was fresh and delicious and the drinks were on point!!! Jordan continued to check on us to make sure we were good. It was great to sit by the bar because I was able to check out the drinks the bartender was making. Every time I asked her what she was making, she would answer with a smile and even joked that we were going to end up trying everything. Well......on to the next round. This time we ordered more of the shrimps on the skewer, a strawberry margarita and a beer. Again, everything was great!! Surprisingly, we were not done. Round three, we ordered the fried cheese with tostones, shrimp appetizer, a white sangria and a mojito. Needless to say, the food came out piping hot and delicious!! The drinks again were made just right!! The entire staff is super friendly and so are the customers. Very cozy place with a friendly neighborhood feel. 1 star for the food and another for the establishment. Very nice inside and the music was good, besides that my experience was horrible . My bartender (Eve) was nice until under pressure and then we where able to see that she was overwhelmed. She was rude and sarcastic to not only the guest but also to other employees who required her help. After gaining control of the crowd with another young lady who was drunk behind the bar I noticed that they kept drinking ignoring us sitting in front of her. She was very seductive with the young lady she was working with, which I found it odd especially in a bar and grill. I come from an extensive background in the service industry and I’m appuld at the behavior I was a witness to and to top it off my drink was nasty. I won’t return because of This and it’s unfortunate because I head and read great things. I highly suggest that unless you like ranchy behavior you stay away!!
