Central Deli & Luncheonette — Restaurant in Newark

The service isn’t great, neither is the food. I got a breakfast order and a lunch order and the lunch order was terrible. I can tell they’re used to doing breakfast but not skilled in the other menu items. I asked for pickles on my burger and when I got home, there were no pickles. I called and asked what happened and the girl said “oh we don’t have anymore pickles” I waited a half hour or more for my order, why didn’t you tell me then? Like, when I was standing in front of you? Plus the burger had a big piece of iceberg on it. Looked like a whole leaf of cabbage. I asked for a medium well burger and it was well done. How can you be a luncheonette but bad at lunch? I tipped them and they didn’t deserve it....

Food is pretty good. However the current staff is horrible. I believe it’s the son that is usually at the counter. Rude to customers in person and on phone. Would rather argue with customers about technical names of food instead accommodating customer. Lived locally for 3 decades and been a repeat customer since childhood. Will no longer be patronizing...
