Short and simple review. I would go back but I hope to find a better place for food and hopefully better for the money as well.
Full Review: Their wonton soup was satisfactory, the broth was overly salty and a bit heavy on the ginger for my taste but I would still order it again. Being from the west coast the wonton wrapping is incredibly thick and as such the filling was lacking but the price is good.
The spring rolls seemed to be filled with only lettuce, not even cabbage. They for sure didn't use the same veggie filling as the pork egg roll. I would not order these again but they were cooked well.
The pork egg roll was decent. I would have expected thin strips of pork not little bits and it lacked flavor but it was cooked right and again a good price.
The House Special Lo Mein was good. I am hard on Chinese food as I grew up on it. The shrimp was cooked to near perfection. The sauce was good but a little too sweet for my taste but being diabetic I have cut sugar out of my diet mostly so I am probably more sensitive to it than most. It was well sauced and well presented.
The Sauteed String Beans were what they were supposed to be. A dry saute with a a little seasoning. The beans were cooked very well I would gladly order this again.
The General Tso's Chicken was good. The chicken was fried correctly though some of the pieces were small most of it retained a level of crispness even with the sauce. Like just about every place though it was listed as spicy I could not detect any heat in eating a whole plate of this. This is a good dish to get. One "big" negative was the few pieces of broccoli they served with this were cold. Not just not warm but cold.
The Roast Pork With Chinese Vegetables was a huge disappointment. Maybe the term "Roast Pork" means someone different out here compared to every place I've been on the west coast but it appeared they just repurposed their BBQ pork. This also meant the pork was overcooked. They tried to not doit poorly by not serving it hot, just warmed over when it arrived at the table. After digging I did find the Chinese vegetables, 3 snow peas, maybe 1 water chestnut sliced up and a few pieces of bamboo shoot. The broccoli, carrots, celery, and lettuce (?) were rather overwhelming to the dish. This dish did NOT taste bad but it was not good either.
Overall for the price I could have had an excellent meal of sushi just another mile down the road that would have left me...
Read moreI was there yesterday on Sept 1 and the food was just ok, not great. I had shrimp with lobster sauce, sweet and sour chicken, beef with spicy orange sauce none of which were impressive. Shrimp with lobster sauce was ok but it's not the authentic sauce with fermented black beans. It's still tasty but not the best I've had. Sweet and sour chicken balls were a bit too small for my taste (I've had it where the nuggets were bigger and cripsier) but the main problem was the sauce which was soupy and too thin for my taste (like diluted), not the thick red sauce I am used to. Also, the chicken balls were not very crispy and not served with diced green pepper and onions (which is the usual serving style). Beef with spicy orange sauce was ok but nothing fantastic. Again, the sauce was too thin. The best tasting dish was the egg drop soup that was served before the meal. Overall, if you are craving for Chinese food, you can try this place. But I am afraid the food quality is not going to be much better than the food you would take out from a smaller Chinese...
Read moreI’ve been coming to this place since I was in middle school. My mom took me here since it was her and her fathers favorite place to grab Chinese take away. It’s been my family and I’s absolute favorite place ever since. I’ve tried about every other Chinese food place around here, and no one comes close to these guys. There isn’t that intense candied Americanized taste to a lot of their food like most places have now. And their pork steamed dumplings.. those things start fights at the dinner table. They’re to die for! Everyone orders their own serving now when we stop here.
Their service is super friendly and fast as well! Food is usually ready within 20-30 minutes and stays hot for so long. One of the owners knows me by name and knows my order by heart whenever we call to place an order.
If I ever move away, I would be heartbroken to not get food from here anymore. My absolute go to and I’m constantly introducing my friends to Golden Palace and they all love it. Truly an amazing little gem that I’ll forever hold in my...
