As a regular-ish here, I often purchase only two types of beverages: slushies and smoothies.
After numerous attempts of trial and error, here is what I have concluded:
• Do NOT get the milk teas. The teas are extremely watered down or steeped too long. I don’t know what it is about these teas but they make my stomach hurt. I can assure you I am not lactose intolerant or really have any allergies. Yet, the teas here lack both flavor and make you queasy. Not worth it. Tapioca texture isn’t the best either, reminiscent of chewing gum.
• Do not order ANYTHING taro. The taro here is incredibly sweetening and reminds me of oatmeal. The powder isn’t of quality and combined with the strawberries creates an overwhelmingly sweet and sickening drink that I could not finished.
• Donuts are pretty bad. The frosting is reminiscent of a wax candle. I am a big fan of mochi-like donuts, but the donuts here are a bit dry depending on how fresh you get them. I do not believe they make these fresh, but rather let them sit under the light to melt for hours.
• Get pandan instead of the regular waffles. The waffles are one of the more better food items but it is relatively pricey for the size.
• The butterfly teas are not that great. It’s really hard to get good butterfly tea without paying a lot in general. Here, the flavor is quite sour, I don’t know how to describe it but it is not the most delightful.
• Lastly, the spam musubis are average. You can’t mess this up. But seriously, you can make your own at home for cheap and it’s really just seaweed, rice and spam. Don’t buy this unless you’re craving it.
Overall, I give this place a 3. It’s a relatively clean place with a nice concept of doing it yourself. Ultimately, the quality of the product really brings this place down to a three. The service is fast, it’s clean to some extent, but I would only come here if I am DESPERATE. In the end of the day, amidst all hunger, anything can really soothe our cravings. That’s DIY Tea Lab to me in a nutshell.
My favorite drink is the Strawberry Me, but once again it’s just blended strawberries but extremely sweetened. Like, you can do that at home but my cravings are the reason why I get it so often.
You’re better off at ShareTea in the Landing. Renton doesn’t have the best tea options but the Landing is quite solid. It’s also slightly...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting DIY Tea Lab and I loved it, thanks in part to a member of their friendly staff, a blonde boba barista who made my experience all the more enjoyable.
The atmosphere in the boba place was inviting and cozy, with comfortable seating and pleasant background music. It provided a nice setting for relaxation.
The boba drinks were the real highlight. Their menu offered a variety of flavors and options to suit different tastes. I tried their signature "Brown Sugar Ruby Milk Tea," and it was a delightful treat. The boba pearls were perfectly chewy, and the tea was well-made. It was a delicious experience.
What made my visit even better was the presence of the blonde girl working behind the counter. She was friendly and eager to help. She took the time to explain the menu, provided recommendations, and patiently answered my questions. Her dedication to making the perfect boba drink was evident in the quality of what I received.
Moreover, her attention to detail and professionalism were commendable. Watching her prepare the boba with care and precision was impressive. It was clear that she took pride in her work.
In summary, this boba place offers a wide range of delicious drinks in a comfortable atmosphere. The blonde girl working there exemplifies excellent customer service, making the visit even more enjoyable. I look forward to returning for more great boba and...
Read morePrice for the quality of your drink is fine, my issue is on placing to go orders. They don't give you a straw in the bag. If you're in a hurry you grab your order and drive all the way home and find you don't have a straw for your boba that's a little stingy isn't it? You obviously can't use normal straws to suck up the boba so it ruins the experience having to spoon them out. When you get take out from any other places they give you the appropriate sauce packets napkins and or utensils, I don't see why straws couldn't be thrown in the bag? If they're trying to be environmentally friendly or save money on the cost of straws they could allow the option when placing the order for pickup to include straws in the bag. Will I come again probably, but that's my gripe. Not all of us drink our drinks right away in the car, we have families at home waiting...
