Note: This review is for an interstate move that we had to pay for ourselves. It was not a corporate paid move. The move salesman and coordinators were amazing. They re-worked the estimate a couple of times to update things. We were informed of timelines, got helpful tips on doing things like change of address, what not to pack, what to hand carry, when and how to pay, etc. On packing day, the packers worked quickly and efficiently. On move out day, the truck was loaded up to the tippy top with all our household goods. Because the driver was kind enough to let me load the vacuum cleaner and a miscellaneous box among the final things, we were able to sweep out the garage and turn over the keys to our landlord as the truck pulled away! The following day, we were on the road to our destination a couple thousand miles away. Throughout the process, the driver kept us informed, and then on unload day, he was there with his team to get things off the truck. The crew was careful with the items and our new place. The process was a little expensive, even without paying for a crew to unpack anything, but overall, it was worth it. Why not five stars? Small glitches added up for me, so that is the reason. None of them were deal breakers. The glitches included the packers deciding to let the movers "just grab" whatever items were left and put them on the truck unboxed/unbundled. Then the move-in crew sort of reassembled a bedframe, but somehow didn't use any of the parts from the parts box, and the bed fell apart overnight. The move-in crew stacked boxes to within 1 to 2 feet of the ceiling at the new place, which will have me hiring someone to pull the boxes down for me as I am too old and weak to do it myself. But like I said, small details. I spoke with the folks at Hansen Bros. about my concerns, and they helped me understand that my expectations were not in line with reality, so that's on me. Overall, yes, I would hire them again, but I would also pay more for extra crew time to help on the back end. Very nice...
Read moreWe chose Hansen Bros for our storage & move because of all the good reviews and despite higher cost. We expected a flawless experience, but ours was a disaster filled with a lot of unnecessary stress and anxiety, and only barely made it on time.
If the move experience was not bad enough, customer service is rock bottom. When we contacted the company afterwards to give them a chance to make up, the branch manager wasted our time, gaslighted, questioned whether a 1/5 rating of our experience âaligns with realityâ, and accused us of âthreatening to damage the companyâs reputationâ as if it is our truthful words and not their actions that do that. Incredibly unprofessional to say the least.
Re: move itself. When we had called the company for a quote, we were told that our âaccount managerâ is on vacation and that âwaiting a week wonât make a differenceâ. The move coordinator was utterly incompetent â she sent emails to an obviously non-existent address, and she was never proactive updating us. We had to check in with her often to see what the status was â not something you want to do with a lot on your plate already. She kept mixing up important details throughout, which only added to the anxiety. Our things were loaded 10 days late onto the truck, and we learned that entirely accidentally; the company never informed us of this delay. Supposed to come 8/12-8/25. On 8/14 the coordinator joyfully told us our stuff is coming on 8/29 without even realizing thatâs late, and it took a lot of back and forth to get the company to deliver on 8/25 which is technically within the promised range but it was incredibly inconvenient due to it being the first day of a nursing program. Had to ask sister who was visiting the US & doesnât speak much English to accept the delivery; and then deal with unpacking everything during the intensive school schedule.
Overall bad experience. Would not recommend unless you want to overpay for incompetence, bad service, and...
Read moreThis review is for Allied Van Lines and their agent Hansen Bros. Moving. I moved a 3 bdrm house content from Seattle to Southern California. In my many moves this was one of the worst I've experienced.
They didn't take care of packing and moving my goods (see pictures). one of the 3 packers was clearly incompetent and wasn't supervised resulting in damage to many items. All items numbered to manage inventory My shipment wasn't weighed My shipment was split - they couldn't fit it on one truck so it split into two. My furniture on one truck, boxes on another Shipment 1 they said would arrive on Monday. Saturday night the driver called to say Sunday. Driver gave me a handwritten note of what was taken and what was left Shipment 2 they said Tue or Wed. It came on Thu on a smaller feeder truck. All boxes were renumbered - for what reason I still don't know - with no cross reference. Result: I can't tell if I received in full what was shipped.
I would not recommend either of these companies but particularly Hansen for their execution. I can't tell if I received everything, the lack of care in packing resulted in more damage than I've experienced in moves, and the additional stress their incompetence put on my move.
The office people are very nice - but they'd need to be with the execution...
