Read moreSorry this is a miss. For the prices and location I would have expected much better, taste, service, portion size and a full bar. The $35 dollar beef carpaccio was the most odd appetizer I ever had. It was no carpaccio I’ve ever had. It literally had 4 thin slices under a pool of cheese sauce with slices of truffle (very mild flavor) on top. I could not even taste the beef! The meatballs appetizer came with 4 very small meatballs ($18) and was Ok but the sauce was good. The eggplant appetizer was good ($18) expensive for the size. The citrus salad was delicious but they would not split it in the kitchen but the server split it at the table. No pepper was offered. There was plenty of servers but not one that payed close attention to our needs. Found out they had canned cocktails but not a full bar. Ordered a round but way overpriced. Ordered a bottle of wine and had waited 10 minutes before we had to call someone over to remind them to bring it. Had to wave someone down for a refill of Ice tea (1 refill) at the end of the dinner ( I don’t drink). When the food was delivered by another server he did not offer Parmesan cheese or salt and pepper. The outside patio was nice. Inside was warm and Ok. The bathroom was a mess and no toilet paper. With that being said (coming from someone who was in the restaurant business for 16 years) The servers tried and responded to our requests when asked but they definitely should be able to anticipate the guest needs. For the cost, many servers, location I would have expected top notch, even though...
Read moreWe just found out that Molo opened last week on Tuesday as we talked to Andy, our server. What a great find of an authentic Italian restaurant in Newport Beach.
Last night’s dinner was sooo wonderful. From the two owners to the wait staff.
Lots of parking and the tables outside had heated lamps everywhere. Never felt cold.
Now the food is beyond good. I was just in Italy last year and it is so authentic and delicious. The food came out hot - not just warm. Such a pleasure when that happens.
The chicken parmigiana was crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. The red sauce is to die for. Delicate and flavorful.
The braided short ribs were sliced thin and did not taste overly rich. They hit the perfect balance of light and rich for the gravy. I never knew you could do that for short ribs which is always too rich.
The tiramisu was also perfect.
I liked the vegan soup very much. Plenty of vegetables. Do ask for some shaved cheese on top because it really elevated the soup.
The flatbread and pizza, we are told, are the same thickness. It’s just the shape of them! Their version of the margarita pizza had shaved cheese that melted in your mouth. Again the perfect balance between creamy and rich.
The meatballs were also perfection. The right texture and so flavorful. And the sauce with some peas were perfect too.
This place is over the top excellent. Highly, highly recommended. We had a blast. Staff were so polite and the two Italian owners and the Italian chef really hit it out...
