Our Christmas Dinner! 🎄🌴🦞🐠🌊 Bluewater Grill Newport Beach California was absolutely lovely! 🥰 so quaint! The seafood was so fresh and the steak and sides were so delicious. Overall, the food, the atmosphere and my family made for the perfect evening by the sea! 🥹 Loved every bit of it! ♥️ #christmas2024 #makingmemories (I do not own the rights to this song)

check your bank account - THEY ROUTINELY DOUBLE BILL & bill other patrons charges to your credit card - I spoke with two managers regarding the double charges - neither had the knowledge of how to do a simple credit. One female manager stated "Yes this happens quite often here, we are just so busy, even I have done it more than once." There was little true consciousness of, or concern about the continuing problem and even less professionalism - she displayed a complete disregard for the customer and more concerning was her general lack of any ability to focus on the problem, (her efforts were spent trying to minimize and excuse the issue with ridiculous pointless trivialities that clearly demonstrated her lack of value to this business/her lack of qualification to do the job) Too bad Rick Staunton and Jim Ulcickas wasted $1M on aesthetics and did nothing to improve the staff/training. Don't be fooled by the hype, don't be fooled by unverified statements from burned out, unsophisticated pallets such as: "Come in and get hooked on the best in fresh, sustainable seafood in Newport Beach as voted by Brad Johnson, Restaurant Critic at the Orange County Register" You can get truly fresh, sustainable seafood in OC, just not at this dive! Strip away the liquor fueled conviviality, strip away the pretentious Newport Beach superficial materialistic hype and what you have is nothing more than a sad, unprofessional lot of bottom-feeders serving very poorly executed, played out "cuisine les déchets" all while wrapping the patrons up in an alcohol soaked dance of carefree idiocy and masquerading as something Bluewater-ill will NEVER be ( a restaurant 'worth going to' )

We went On August 16th to celebrate my mother’s birthday around 1:00 p.m.. and there a few things I would like to bring up to your attention # 1 service our waiter was Peter who didn’t look like he wanted more tables to wait as he made a comment about getting one more table. At the beginning he was not friendly though his attitude changed after I made a comment loud enough so he could hear it and from there he at least provided more than a small short talk. Needless to say I didn’t have to make such comment in order to obtain good service# 2 My mother ordered Sea bass with some type of green rice, rice was terribly under cooked Unfortunately our waiter never came back to check on us so we could have said something or get a different type of rice, he arrived later once we were done didn’t even offer a dessert menu so I had to bring it up to his attention and he gave us two options (key lime pie and some type of coffee mud cake) Yes we did not get charged for the dessert (which was good)3# oysters as one of our appetizers was ordered and something was not right with them regardless I ate most of them thinking that the combination of ingredients had to play a role on the distinct taste. Well it is two of us out of our three people party are stomach sick. I am the most affected of them (no worries I won’t give you details)I sent them a message thru their Facebook Page (on the same day as I was in bed) and though it was seen after 3 days so far I haven't got any reply from them. On August 19th (72 hours after) I contacted them thru their web page (Contact Us); basically copied and pasted the same message from Facebook same way I did with the above with a few edits. This time I've provided them with my email address and so far not even an acknowledgement email on their behalf. This edited message, with exception of this line is the same one I've posted on Yelp, your Facebook Page, email address showing on your Facebook Page and now here on Google.I would prefer to prepare for a colonoscopy rather than feel as sick as I felt that day after eating at...

First time to Bluewater grill . I was really disappointed especially after reading and hearing how great the place was . Unfortunately I did not have a great experience . I was totally embarrassed after suggesting to my guest and family that we have dinner there . The service was not that great , the waiter was nice but I am not too sure if they were too busy to attend to their tables. We had a child that was given a kids menu however the two entrées we ordered which was a cheeseburger slider or a steak stick we were told they did not have the waiter then pretty much ordered what he thought the child should eat due to I guess not having the items that were on the menu . We were also seated outside and it became windy and the temps drop and we requested a patio heater which was brought over but the staff could not actually get it to work . The food arrived and one guest ordered a plain well done sirloin Burger and two guest ordered fish n chips . The burger came dressed with mayonnaise and was undercooked one of the guest that Ordered fish and chips one of the pieces of fish was Raw and not cooked. We did request it for a manager due to the fact that the fish was not cooked and how dangerous that was for someone to consume. The manager was nice enough to apologize but once she removed the fish to take it back to the chef she came back with the explanation of the chef stating that that the fish had a bloodline going through it so it was not raw it had a pink color and the fish could not be cut with a knife . Unbelievable and scary at the same time. I probably would have given them another chance to do better but after the chef’s explanation there is no way I would ever recommend them to anyone . Yes they adjusted the check but did not make a difference there is no dollar amount that could make up for the embarrassment and the upset stomach...

The parents of my partner love to come here. I like the outdoor seating by the water, it can be quiet loud inside (somehow noise echoes off the walls) I heard the clam chowder is supposed to be really good. I like the appetizers, haven't been that thrilled on main courses and have tried a bunch. (But I am also very particular with food and would consider myself picky /others call it gourmet 😉) In general there's a lovely touch to the restaurant , it looks nice inside and I love all the old fishing pictures. Gives it really a lovely feeling. Before Covid there was a really good trained staff at the restaurant. Everyone was always really nice , now it's like everyone needs to get back into track.

Today a Mom and her boy were dining inside, after their Lunch just has been served the little boy needed to use the restroom in a hurry. Since the lady was alone she left her Food and went quick to the facilities. When she came back her almost untouched food was gone. There was not really a huge explanation by the person cleaning off the table. And later on a Manager came to help. I saw how upset the lady was and also felt bad for the Waitress since it wasn't her fault either. So I paid for their lunch, and I really hope everyone involved in this incident will pay forward to someone else one day. I hope the lady and the little boy enjoyed their lunch and the cocktail (which he also accidentally tipped over as he leaned on the table to grab something from his moms side ,since the table had just one leg and wasn't secured on the floor) I can only imagine what a stressful event this must've been for everyone. I really hope everyone can take a deep breath and smile. Life is too precious to be hard...
