If you're looking for an electric people friendly vibe where you can network and connect with great people and professionals... The Cannery Seafood in Lido Island (Newport Beach) is just the spot.
This cozy, and live spot is definitely the buzz of Lido Island.
Now let's talk about the food. Definitely five stars!!! Their food is seafood, and suzi seems to be their specialty, every service to most every table was suzi (I'm not a suzi eater but) by the way they were selling and the beautiful presentation it had to be on point.
I don't drink alcohol but my Cousins whom I met there, are real drinkers and they raved about the drinks (suggesting, and buying people rounds).
I truly enjoyed the place and will return again and again. The servers are amazing, the management on top of things and the guest are the stars of the venue... It might sound weird by saying that the people (the customers) really brought the special sauce to this place and there would be no massive crowds if the restaurant were not doing things right, and trust me... From the time you pull up (valet parking), is greeted at the door by very kind hosts, walk in, and is seated (if you can find an empty seat) it pays to have a reservation at this place for sure but if you're spontaneous and like to just show up and smooze yourself by talking and meeting people then you will self seat easily because the "people" love giving their seats to other people (we gave our seats to two nice women, one a birthday girl) and lolly gagged around before leaving an hour later, just talking, laughing and joking around... while watching the New York Nicks get their pride snatched by Indiana (my guys are out, I'm a warriors fan).
The prices are good (about $50 to $100 a person), the food is great, the atmosphere is simply electric (it was my 1st time there) and the guest... well (the best way I can describe them is:) like hanging around a bunch of your buddies and business associates. It's definitely a great networking spot as well.
You won't be sorry at the Cannery Seafood in Lido Island (Newport Beach) take 55fwy South stay on Newport Blvd 'til you get to 28th Street and turn left (I forgot the next two turns but Google it from there and it will lead you the next two turns)
I highly recommend this indoor/outdoor hot spot in Newport Beach, they truly rock!!! I will be back, again and again (I watched to many great looking plates getting delivered to tables) there's a lotta dishes I want to try now!!
Who knows, maybe I'll see you there because I'm definitely...
Read moreWent to a Bridal Shower on Sunday 1/15/23 @ 11AM PST. We had the entire top floor to ourselves and my friends mother spent ALOT of money for this shower. We had a male server (who was FABULOUS) and a female server named Brittany who was absolutely terrible.
She was either having a bad day or she is just naturally a rude/condescending person. She treated everyone as if we were children. I especially hated how she was with the mother of the soon to be bride.
Even though i observed and interacted with Brittany numerous times, she especially angered me when I went to get the Mother in Law (Future Husbands Mother) some Olives from the bar which of course was infact EMPTY since we reserved the entire top floor. There was a glass of Olives on the bar top and I brought my own cup and picked out three olives. While doing so, Brittany walks up behind me all angry and says "We do not take Olives from the bar!" I apologized and she said "We use picks and now those olives are no longer good" I apologized again and said "okay, I can take the jar then considering there is only about 4 more olives left" she looks at the bar tender and laughs and says no you cannot take those. (If i contaminated them when I can't I just take the rest instead of throwing them away which I know did not. They just hid the jar behind a wooden decorative piece on the bar).
So, pretty much all of this pettyness over a shot glass full of olives on the bar top where NO ONE ELSE will access them since the entire floor was reserved!!!!!
This Brittany chick needs to remind herself that she gets paid from the customers that actually visit/pay and enjoy their experience at the restaurant. If she continues to act like a tyrant for people who are paying ALOT of money for an enjoyable experience... I cannot imagine her having a bright future at all what so ever.
The customers are the ones who ensure that you get paid and the person who signs your check cannot pay you if there are no customers. Just an FYI.
Needless to say, I will never be visiting this restaurant again. I highly advise my family who reserved the bridal shower to never spend money there again as well. It is simply not worth it and Newport Beach has PLENTY of nice restaurants to choose from in the future.
Not to mention....the French Toast was sooooooo soggy in the middle it was gross.
The cocktails were good....
Read moreFinally came here! Originally my friend recommended this restaurant to me about a year ago but didn't get around to making a visit. Newport Restaurant Week is what brought me here. I came here last night with a friend for the prefixed dinner menu ($40). We arrived, parking was atrocious so ended valeting which wasn't bad, only $4. My friend and I enjoyed the atmosphere and decor. What caught our eye was the jellyfish decor. The tables were beautifully setup and we were excited for a good night. I ordered some red wine for the both of us, it was Pinot, but forget the name. Will have to update this later. So dish selections -
Appetizers - °Ahi Tuna Poke: I really enjoyed this dish. The Ahi had a little kick to it and served with crispy wonton. °Piquillo Peppers: This was the better of the two. The flavor was amazing. Peppers were stuffed with creamy goat cheese. A definite must try.
Entrees - °Swordfish: The fish was nicely cooked. The fish was served with a potato puree and roasted mushrooms. °Braised Short Ribs: This is also a fine choice if you're a meat lover. The ribs was very tender and served with truffle creamed corn. I enjoyed the Swordfish more, there's my biased for seafood.
Desserts: °Chocolate Molten Cake & Carrot Cake: I am not a fan of cakes for desserts because they tend to be very rich and sweet. It was the same with both. The Chocolate Cake was too chocolaty, while the carrot cake was too sweet. Don't get me wrong, both were good but not my type of dessert. I'd say the molten cake was the better of the two.
Service was pristine. I could not have asked for anything more. Our server was attentive, explained the menu to us, and had a sense of humor. This definitely made the night enjoyable on top of the delicious dishes. The Cannery was a winner for me...
