Made the reservation online after speaking with someone at hotel. In search engine I included one child, when I clicked on hotel, not all of the info transferred over. I made reservations for two different rooms. One for our friends and their two children, and one for my husband and I and our teenage daughter. I booked the lilac room for our friends and the windward room for us. The windward room is a deluxe king room and I thought it had a sofa. I sent my friend a copy of the confirmation. A couple of weeks before our arrival, I got another confirmation that the inn was charging my credit card for one night for each room. I sent it to my friend. She texted me and said I don’t think the kids are listed on the receipt. She called the hotel and wound up paying an extra $25 per night for each of her two kids. I was at work so I said I’ll call them tomorrow. I called, no answer. Then I just forgot until the night before and I just told my husband we would pay for our daughter when we paid the balance.||My husband, daughter, and I arrived at the inn a bit early and our rooms weren’t ready so waited for the front desk person to call her manager to see if we could check in an hour early but the rooms weren’t ready so we walked around a bit. We then came back with our friends and we asked if we could split the balance on two credit cards and once again the front desk person couldn’t answer if she could do that. I also informed her that my daughter needed to be added to our room and she nodded. Carmen came back and charged both of our cards. We went quickly to our rooms to throw some bags on the beds and as I walked out of the room to get our luggage the front desk person stopped me to ask if my daughter was with me or in the other room. I said she’s my daughter, she’s in my room. And she said ok. So not a minute later I’m getting the luggage out of the car with my husband and Carmen calks me on the phone telling me that the room I booked was only for two people and our third person was in violation of their fire code and I explained that I had chosen the rooms based on a search I did that included the kids and that I had also spoken with someone at the hotel the same day I booked the rooms. She kept me on the phone arguing for five minutes and I just said can I come in and talk about this? I go to my room and Carmen is standing in the room, not in the front desk area, and I realize there is no sofa in the room. For the next fifteen minutes, all she does is smugly argue with me saying that i couldn’t have made the reservations in the way I described and that when she goes away with her friends she makes her reservations the appropriate way. And she just kept repeating this over and over again. So I finally said okay, I get it already, and then she just continued to stand there saying that I was the one talking I’m circles. Then she said that since we were violating their fire code, that we should please not leave our third guest in the room in the event of a fire. Like I need a total stranger to tell me that I shouldn’t leave my child in a burning building. My husband then said okay what is the solution here because you just keep saying the same thing over and over again. So she said it’s fine, I will make sure to bring a continental breakfast for your third party. And the whole time she acted like we did something horrible. I didn’t hide my daughter in the car and try to sneak her in. So it just left us feeling not great at the start of our vacation and the kicker was that they gave us the wrong room. I didn’t realize it until I looked at our receipt - they put us in a smaller room instead of the windward room that we had booked and confirmed. I didn’t even bother going back down to argue with them, they were completely exhausting to begin with. ||Regarding the inn - it’s definitely noisy, the housekeeping person kept the back door open all day so we were freezing both days we were there. The toilet doesn’t flush well, there’s no water pressure in the shower. There is nowhere to sit and have a drink or just chat with friends unless you stay in your room.||The hood stuff - the water is hot, the rooms are clean, there is an air conditioner that you can put on very low to drown out some of the outside noise without freezing in the room, the beds are super comfortable and there are lots of extra pillows and blankets (we made a very comfortable bed fort on the floor for my daughter who happily slept on a tower of pillows and blankets). ||We have been coming to Newport annually for over 20 years and had never stayed at this inn before. We will not stay here again due to the crappy attitudes of the staff, there are too many other places in Newport. Outside of the two staff members it was a pleasant and...

Read moreThis Inn is located right on Thames Street walkable to many restaurants & shops, the wharf, mansions, etc. The Inn also is home to one of Newport’s best restaurants, Chanterelle. The Inn has a small parking lot plus 3 spots on the street for its guests. One car per guest room. That is a definite plus.|We stayed in the Harbor House in the Brittany Suite. The price average to $470 per night. I liked the convenience of using a code to get into the front door of the building and also the individual rooms. No key card or key to lose. Our suite was located on the first floor of Harbor House. You walk into the bedroom area and then there is a sitting area complete with a little kitchen area and further back is the bathroom. The closet was extremely small and there was no room on one side of the bed for a nightstand which was inconvenient for the person on that side of the bed. The kitchen area had a cooktop, microwave, little sink and refrigerator. The refrigerator was stocked daily with juice, milk & water. There were utensils & dishes to use, but there was no skillet/pan to use on the cooktop so it wasn’t really usable without a pan. Every morning, a yogurt parfait and a fresh baked pastry was dropped at the door for breakfast. Upon check-in, there was a note on our file that I cannot have nuts or seeds. I thought that was wonderful that they remembered, and I reiterated that restriction includes berries like strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries with Anna who greeted us. Unfortunately, every parfait that was delivered had berries in it. I wish they would’ve just stuck with bananas and blueberries in mine so I wouldn’t have to fish out the fruit that I couldn’t eat to give to my husband. Also, there were some pastries I couldn’t eat because they had nuts or seeds in them. Although it was great that they put a note on my file, the Inn forgot to honor it. When I brought it to their attention about day 5 of my stay, they were very apologetic and said that they would make sure that my food didn’t have nuts or seeds. The very next morning I received a parfait with strawberries and a warm almond croissant, which my husband ate along with his because I could not have it. Ugh! I was surprised for the price I paid for a week at this establishment that my request was not honored. I also thought it would be nice if a couple pastries were savory like with eggs. Other than the couple negatives, the location was great, having a spot to park was good, having a refrigerator stocked with beverages was great, having breakfast delivered to your room was great, the larger room was great and finally, housekeeping was good. I would definitely stay here again and I do recommend this Inn for the positive things...
