My favorite of the Newport mansions! It is one of the oldest mansions so not as ostentatious as the others (at least the ones that were open this season). This over actually looks like a house someone could live in and does not feel like a mausoleum like some of the later/larger mansions. Definitely built during the Victorian/Gothic Revival period, it has beautiful architecture and so many original pieces in the house. The docents are super informative and knowledgeable. Grounds have a European Fernleaf Beech Tree thats very rare in US, by my experience. Doesnt seem prone to Beech tree diseases.
