We stopped by La Costa restaurant on Thames Street in Newport yesterday, 31 Aug 2023 for lunch. My adult son and I are big foodies and Newport locals. La Costa restaurant draws attention with its colorful decor. Its bright and cheery as well. The restaurant has several seating areas indoors and outdoors. We started by ordering a couple of drinks and the coconut shrimp appetizer. The horchata drink was good, but the sake drink tasted watered down. Not appealing at all. The coconut shrimp, $15 was a true disappointment. The shrimp were not jumbo size. The outside breading on the shrimp seemed too dark and the plate came with only 5 pieces on a bed of lettuce. The one thing we liked was the salsa it came with; very delicious. The shrimp appetizer is clearly overpriced. We ordered pork and chicken tacos, $14 & $16. The waitress mistakenly brought beef tacos instead of pork. We left it because we were hungry. We were astounded that there were only 3 small tacos on each place with a side of salsa verde and literally two tablespoons of rice in a tiny square bowl. The portions were terrible; not enough food. Unless this restaurant reconsiders their portion sizes and pricing, they will surely only have one-time customers stop by. Guaranteed, La Costa will not have return customers unless they add more food on the plates or lower the menu prices. We ended up paying what a dinner would cost for a lunch with hardly any food!!! We left dissatisfied and very hungry. We will never go back. True disappointment. Do not...
Read moreFinally a clean, delicious and friendly destination for WINGS! It is literally so CLUCKING good!
Food you gotta fill up on: Gotta get the wings with their special house sauce - (number one on the wing list of the menu)Also- don’t even think twice about ordering traditional buffalo wings because they do tradition without disappoint!!!! The French fries were soooo good, not sure how they do it but they’re like winged , light , perfectly fried, not too greasy - I mean you almost think French fries are healthy but of course you know they’re fried so - but absolutely worth every calorie!!! Husband also enjoyed the fried chicken basket.
Things you should love: Clean Welcoming staff Attentive service without the weird lingering staff type — Outdoor seating that is pet friendly An attractive beer and wine menu, plus a few fun specialty mimosas and even the popular and well loved Athletic Non Alcohol brew 😻 Did I mention the wait staff, I hope I remember his name right — Jimmy - beard and glasses, tall and thing - I don’t know if he owns the place but he most certainly didn’t miss a beat and if he doesn’t own the place, then the owners should feel good with him there!
Fun Features but please Visit them on regular hours because we want this place to stay in business. They’ve got a discount menu for Wednesday and a full Thirsty Thursday deal too.
We will return - this is our favorite clucking...
Read moreCluck House was a 10/10 for me. When here, you HAVE to get a sauce flight. It was such a fun experience getting to try so many different sauces with my meal. They were all SO good. I ordered the chicken strips with curly fries and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was delicious! The prices are affordable and comfortable. The service was great and the establishment was really clean and presentable. We chose to come here because it caught our attention while walking down the street. The chicken was really good as well, It's not as fried/crunchy as I prefer it but it was still good. It was very similar to chick fil a...
