Ninebark Kitchen + Drinks — Restaurant in Newton

On Saturday, 06/22/2024 my wife and I went to Ninebark as part of a rare date night. Our reservation was for 5:15 PM. There was on-street parking right in front of Ninebark. We walked in a few minutes early and we were seated immediately. Ninebark was not crowded when we came in. By the time we left about an hour later it was getting full. I saw families and other date night couples seated when we left.

Our server was with us immediately to give us menus and tell us about the specials. After a few minutes review, my wife decided on the Eggplant Delmonico and I got the Ninebark Burger, medium with American cheese instead of the standard blue cheese. The food arrived 10-15 minutes later.

My wife described her Eggplant Delmonico good but not great. My Ninebark Burger was nothing short of awesome. It was easily one of the best burgers I've had in years. It's hard to describe, but the mix of flavors was a joy to my palate. The Ninebark Burger came with steak fries but they weren't your standard Red Robin style steak fries. They were made from a whole russet potato that was sliced into wedges, perfectly fried and coated with a salt and pepper seasoning powder. Again, these were the best fries I've had in a long time. There was a lot of food, I came in hungry and I couldn't finish everything.

So here's my summary of our Ninebark experience:

Food: It's a small sample size and always subjective, but we rated our meals from good to awesome. That should average out to 4.5 stars but since I'm writing this review and my meal was awesome, I'm giving it 5 stars. Up yours, math. Of course, your mileage may vary...

Service: Our waiter was always there when we wanted him and not there when we didn't. Again 5 stars.

Environment: Everything was clean and new. We were seated in a smaller part of the dining room that required two stairs to access. Our dining area was quiet enough for quiet conversation. That's not something we see often in modern restaurants. And while the physical plant was nice and new, it was pretty standard. So 4 stars there.

I had an absolutely fantastic experience. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the cozy ambiance and welcoming atmosphere. The food was simply outstanding - every dish was bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. The menu offered a great variety of options, and I was delighted by the quality of each dish I tried.

Not only was the food exceptional, but the service was top-notch. The staff was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was memorable. They were knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations.

Was visiting Boston and staying near Newton, MA We didn’t want to drive into Boston for dinner and decided to check out Ninebark in West Newton so we could avoid the traffic and drive. Was SO GLAD we dd!

While their pizza oven was out of order that evening; the entree’s we ordered were outstanding. Service was very attentive and professional. We started with their Butternut squash soup which was very flavorful and nicely pureed. We had the fish n chips and Cobb salad with grill shrimp and they were winners. The tables next to us all ordered burgers- which looked outstanding.

We finished with a delightful pistachio gelato from Italy. (Outstanding).
