Sombrero — Restaurant in Newton

Lacking in hospitality a little but we will come back. A nice greeting or smile would have been good or even a "welcome" when you came in or "thank you" when you left. But as for the food it did come out hot except the cheese dip, which was barely even warm. Salsa and chips was good. Food was good and some pretty authentic. We tried many different items. Good portions and you got your order in, your food out to your table, and even a few pass by your table to check on you in a timely manner so the service was decent. It was well priced and never felt overcharged on anything we ordered. Yes I would recommend this place and we will try to go again for maybe we just hit them on a bad or busy night. We still made sure to tip well due to not having to wait on anything for any period of time so service gets an A+ . Also, don't be afraid to ask for the really hot sauce if you like to add something to your salsa to give it a kick, but don't use too much without trying it first. It was very tasty and well made but habanero...

Nicely decorated and we got a table right away. Food came very quickly. Unfortunately, that's all the good things I can say. I ordered a burrito and taco combo. I received an enchilada and taco. The beans had enough salt to cure a ham. I finished my drink half way through the meal and was never offered a refill. In fact, after the food was delivered nobody even checked on us once. We sat there for ten minutes after finishing waiting for the check until I asked for it. I'd be more understanding if everyone was busy, but the crew walked by us I don't know how many times while chit chatting with people at the bar.

EDIT: No restaurant is going to be great all the time. They responded to my review quickly and politely. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and moving my review up to 3 stars. Good...

Marginal, but standard, Mexican fare. If you order anything they can't plop on the plate in the shape of rice, beans, or tacos... You're rolling the dice.

Staff is cold, inattentive and unconcerned with your dining experience. The wings I ordered looked like they starred in the latest Mad Max movie. Like the steak I ordered, they were overcooked, dry, and chewy.

Two stars because the flavors were good. The spicy wing sauce had great flavor as did the cheese sauce for the steak... But next time I'm looking for Mexican food, I'll take my dollars to a competing...
