Meglio Pizzeria is truly one of the best pizza bakers in Bucks County, or possibly the entire Delaware Valley! Firstly, this family has been in the pizza business for over 60 years, having started out in the middle of the last century in Bristol, PA. They have continued the family tradition in Newtown, PA, since the 1990s, with two of the sons of the original shop at the helm of the Newtown location. The restaurant is very clean and the staff courteous and friendly as well as professional. I have been coming here since the 90s and moved 60 miles away 10 years ago and still visit a few times per year. My favorite by far is the authentic wood fired pizza, which is baked in a real wood oven using wood, not gas! The taste is spectacular may I say, the crust very thin and made from scratch dough, not the pre-made variety. The tomato sauce is also homemade and very slightly sweet and renders a wonderful delicious aftertaste. The pizza steak uses that same wonderful sauce, along with a generous amount of melted cheese as well as being made with high quality beef chip steak with no fat, gristle or greasiness as so many other establishments serve. The portion size is generous. This is by far better than Pat’s or Geno’s in Philadelphia which have become tourist traps! The quality at Meglio beats them also. I strongly recommend that you visit Meglio Pizzeria on your next visit near Newtown! PS: Prices are also very reasonable.

If you're looking for a truly authentic Italian pizza experience, look no further than Meglio in Newtown! The moment you walk through the door, you'll be greeted with a warm and charming atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease. The waitstaff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure you have everything you need for a great meal. But the real stars of the show are Benny and Giuesseppe, the owners of Meglio. These two are truly passionate about their craft, and it shows in the quality of the pizza they serve. We ordered Angelina and Old World Tomato Pie. Every bite feels like you're transported straight to Italy, with fresh ingredients and perfectly balanced flavors. And don't just stop at the pizza - the Caesar salad and chicken wings we ordered were also fantastic, and made for the perfect accompaniment to our meal. Overall, I can't recommend Meglio enough. If you're a pizza lover or just looking for a great meal in a charming setting, this is the spot for you. They have truly outdone themselves, and I can't wait to come back for more.

Driving by this place looks like a nice restaurant. Once we were in we noticed that was really crowded inside only a few tables available. We're placed in the back of the restaurant nice cozy table for 2. The menu was the most large Italian menu which you would expect in a regular pizza shop they offered wood fired pizza, As well as run your pizza you can only get the wood pizza in 12". Menu also includes some Mexican dishes and they have Mexican Monday. We decided to share the lobster soup Is a 12"wood fired meat lover's pizza and Cheese steak with fried onions. The soup was delicious Is nice chunks of lobster the Is cheese steak was on the soft roll, If you were going to order to go I would be worried that the juices from the steak would ruin the roll. The pizza was cooked well still soft And the ham overflavored the pie, I would suggest not having ham on my pizza. The staff were really friendly

4/23/2025 Update to my Meglios' Pizza review in response to the restaurant's backhanded non “apology” :

Meglios insincere apology appears to blame shift to the customer and make excuses, instead of taking full responsibility.

I purchased the horrendous tasteless Meglio's pizza months ago. The dryness was but one issue.

I rarely post reviews. However, I finally posted a review yesterday after I received an email request from Google to review more businesses because my 5 reviews were being noticed.

After ordering the Meglios pizza, on my way home, I immediately drove to pick it up. I was about 8 minutes away. So it is not possible that it took me 35 minutes to arrive, as Meglios' claims.

I never received a call, while driving, to Meglios, as claimed in their response.

Regarding Meglios comment about my five Google reviews posted over a span of 15 years:

Psychologists note that most people typically are more inspired to post negative reviews after an extremely abominable and upsetting experience.

There is one glowing review, I posted, regarding exceptional quality Honey I purchased. Did Meglios miss it? The Honey company did it right. I was extremely impressed by their unusually high quality product.

Conversely, I was EXTREMELY upset and unimpressed by Meglio's lackluster Pizza quality.

Also, since Meglios commented on my posted reviews, I will comment on Meglios numerous responses to their unhappy customers.

I notice regarding all Meglios' apologies to customer complaints, that the response always appears to focus more time on justifying behavior rather than acknowledging the impact of the issue on the customer. It shows a lack of sincerity.

Thank you for the offer to provide another pizza, but I paid cash and long ago threw away the Meglios' pizza box.

Furthermore, I have no intention of ever buying a pizza at Meglios, again.

After seeing Meglios conditional apology, I finally took the time to plow through all the one-star reviews, which I sadly failed to do before ordering the Pizza.

Many of the one-star reviews I read today appear to corroborate my exact complaint.

I encourage readers to review all the one-star reviews.

*My original review from yesterday:

Based on the five-star reviews here, I eagerly called ahead to order a White Pizza from Meglio's in Newtown, Bucks county, Pa.

When I got home, my husband said it tasted like cardboard. It did not taste good to me, either. My husband refused to continue eating it. He told me to tear it into pieces and feed it to the birds out back.

I agree that the pie was extremely dry, but worse, it only a thin layer of odd tasting cheese and hardly any olive oil.

The Pie tasted suspiciously like one that had been sitting out on the counter for a while. I also did not finish my full slice. Why waste the calories.

The only good news is that the workers that that fulfilled my order, when I arrived, were...

Update: I finally ate here and the owner screamed at us. We were lingering after dinner on a Wednesday night. My son and his friend were dumping a few sugar packets onto the empty table next to us. The owner yelled at us. My husband apologized, and the owner kept yelling. We will never go back. I would recommend not bringing any young children here (5 and under stay away!). I kept 1 Star because this was one of my son’s favorite food places (they cater at his school) and the catering was good before. I wasn’t even planning to write about this incident but I had to do something about my previously glowing review. You can come here, just not with kids.

Previous review: I have only used meglio for catering purposes and have never eaten at the restaurant so I can’t vouch for eat in service. The guys are great and very professional. I went in over the weekend to place a catering order. The man that took my catering order told another staff member on the phone to go to the back when the staff member was on his cell phone. This was very professional as private phone calls should not be done in front of customers. I originally ordered food for my son’s class to be picked up at 11 am. Then the teachers told me that they needed me to be there earlier. I called Meglio and they had my food ready at 10:30 am, which is before the restaurant even opens! They helped me load the food into the car. Everyone ooohed and ahhhed seeing the lunch spread. The teachers were very happy. One of the other parents said it was the best school holiday party she had been to. For 12 kids and 15 adults, the tray of deli sandwiches, the house salad, and the chicken tenders was perfect. I will order from Meglio again for the end of the school year...

I’ve been a long time Meglio Pizzeria fan way before they changed locations. The quality of the food has remained about the same, only that the dining room is bigger. My only complaint at all food wise, is that sometimes the waitress will forget about them. This could be because I’ll often order the same dish as my mom and she’s a vegan so she doesn’t get meatballs, so I don’t have the heart to doc a star.

The food itself is really good. If you’re a fan of pizza they make some of the best pies I’ve ever had. They also got good pasta based dishes. Everything else is fine, but Italian dishes are their specialty. They also have great soups and desserts.

The people who work there are also super friendly. The guy I often see at the counter who I believe is the owner is super cool. My Dad and him will have quick chats about sports.

One waitress who really stands out though, is this one who is about my age who likes to ask me if I have a drivers license yet. Even when she isn’t our waitress she’ll still come and ask me If I got one, almost to tease me. I still have massive amounts of respect for her since she has never messed up an order and almost immediately knows what we are going to order. Plus, she’s right. I do need a drivers license.

Do not let that last bit deter you from coming here, because clearly if you came here you already have a drivers license, and she only bugs me about it because my parents made her aware of it.

All in all, this is definitely a great family restaurant. It has 4.4 stars...
