I would really like to give a better rating for this place, unfortunately we had such a horrific experience over New Years celebration 2020 that it is hard to even leave one star. Whoever organizes this should be really ashamed.
We paid for best seating/entertainment $185 just to be seated in a completely different room (we had a slip sent to us by the venue with our table number, when later we were told as we were seating at the assigned table that we supposed to sit elsewhere). We drove to Chicago for a couple of hours to have a stellar celebration. I highly recommend that you do not try this place. Ever.
FOOD: mediocre, poor quality and cold as soon as it was served, drinks limited to one bottle of each kind for a table of 10.
ATMOSPHERE: not too bad but not super exciting or inviting by any means. Decor is outdated but could be overlook if service/entertainment were there. Music was such poorly chosen that it was boring to sit through 90s Russia and pos Soviet Era hits all evening long. If you are younger than 40-45 just go elsewhere if you look for dancing experience as part of celebration. Entertainment lacked basics engagement we left earlier bored to death.
SERVICE: the poor waters were dressed in a miserable red hanging wrinkly uniform, that made such a sad thing to look at. The feeling of disastrous disorganization and disappointment that we chose this venue and spoiled our New Years celebration all...
Read moreZhivago was my family fab place to celebrate birthdays and special events, but our last experience was below average. We made reservation in the main room, but we were moved to a smaller one. As a general note, the small room was packed with guests, it was very hot and lack of space on the dance floor. I am ok with it bc it may happen at any place you go. My disappointment with Zhivago is due to poor customer service and shortage of food. Our table was not served properly; my husband had to open wine, fill guests glasses, etc. it came to the point that my husband had to go to the waiter and complain for lack of service and only then we got taken cared. Maybe this is ok too bc they were busy. But there is no excuse for not sufficient quantity of entry dish. I paid extra $ per each guest to have lamb, and we got only 5 small lamb ribs for 15 guests. Next day I sent the text massage to Zhivago sharing my experience and complaint. It has been a month, but no reply has been received from Zhivago leaving me feel that Zhivago stopped caring about the quality of their services, and the need to find another restaurant to celebrate my...
Read moreFinally i got a chance to have good time here with my friends. First of all, reservation was easy to make, i did over the phone. I got all the anwers, because you have to pick a package for brunch/dinner menu. I gotta tell, there was no parking space since it was a weekend. The the doors to the restaurant is confusing. We walked in to someone’s funeral, oops. But it could have been corrected if i would get information earlier. No big deal, if you go there one time, you will know the next time :). Our reserved table was ready when we walked in. The waiter was very helpful, he speaks Russian as well. Then after 3:30pm the live music started. We kept getting our meals one by one. The food was good, salads were excellent! The kids were running, people were dancing. All in all everybody had a good time. There were 3 different cultures mixed on that night. Eventually we enjoyed three types of music. I would definitely recommend this place for a group, with...
