My name is Frank Clancy, I am the husband of a patient who had surgery on her spine on 09/03/2024. Her experience post-op was a nightmare! The pain management team did not follow the written Instructions that were given to them 2 weeks prior, NOR did they have the required medication on hand. She even brought her medication they would use and was drugged with so many medications that she was hallucinating for 4 days. She is allergic to one of the medications which caused hallucinations. The care that he received does not stand up the to normal Standard of "Do no harm" and their mission focus of "Providing World Class Care. This was a horrific experience! If their medical staff had just followed proper, ethical procedures my wife would not still be suffering all of the current pain, stress and anxiety she's feeling currently. The very first thing I need to point out is that we have absolutely no complaints with her surgeon. He was an is a very skillful and compassionate man. The bottom line they are supposedly expected to be trained to subdue the patients pain after surgery. After 2.5 hours, due to the hospital staff's ineptness, lack of preparation and entire lack of professionalism they were totally and completely unable to do absolutely anything to reduce any of my wife's post surgical pain, which should not have happened. They gave her a cocktail of medication that made her a danger to herself. This is the God's Honest Simple Truth of the matter! Unbeknownst to me while I am sitting in the waiting room believing everything is fine and my wife is resting well, there couldn't have been anything from the farthest facts. I was not made aware that my wife had been screaming in pain and begging for help, I was dumbfounded when one of the recovering nurses came out and asked if I wouldn't mind coming to the back, in order to comfort and calm down my wife because her screaming in was scaring other patients, I swear to God Almighty every word I speak, as unbelievable as it may sound, is absolutely the truth. The Nurse ushered me back where I can hear my wife's cries for help, I could not believe the pain she was in. The other recovery nurse was back there with her yelling at my wife to be quite, calling her terrible names and harassing her. I kid no one I then ask Laura what is going on here why aren't you helping my wife? She said "We don't know how to decrease her pain". As long as I live I will never forget the frightened, horrified painful look in her eyes begging me to help her. The Anesthesiologist left without her pain being resolved. My wife started a complaint with Patient Care and we have been sent in circles to 6-8 people since then and it is still not resolved. We have made an attempt to speak to the hospital President and still no response. My wife was offered money to make this right but if she signed the documents the Hospital wants. She will OWE her insurance company that money back. Even the Hospital attorney does not understand this! Today, we received an e-mail from the attorney which said that what happened to my wife met their Standard of Care. Are you kidding me??? My wife and I had an appointment with their Attorney, Risk Management and the Head Nurse of the hospital. These people agreed with my wife's consent to allow me to speak on her behalf. While walking, I expressed my anger over this whole situation and that I wasn't angry at any of the people I was speaking to. There were 5 people in the room and they intended to intimidate me. I asked if I could get a cup of coffee. When I went back to the meeting room no one was there. They proceed kicked me our of the hospital using the Security Team. As we sat in the parking lot waiting a return call from the President's office they called the police on us. The Risk Manager Erika has not been professional throughout these so called "negotiations" and even lied so that I would be kicked out of the Hospital. We are going to file numerous complaints and have contacted all the TV Stations in the area. You'll have too look for us on the news,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is for the gi lab. The initial nurses and doctors are the only reason I'm giving a 1 star instead of zero stars horrible customer service from rest of the staff. Anna and Becky were very helpful and sweet. The doctor was fine who was unable to complete endoscopy for valid reasons which is understandable. However the gi we met with prior to her should of never schedule egd for young person in out patient lab because twilight anesthesia is not a good option for young people and generally would he better with stronger option with a real anasthesiologist. Which is why procedure failed. When scheduling its listed as a hospital so assumed there would be availability for anesthesiologist but not the case and no one told us otherwise when they rescheduled us to this location from a hospital. In addition the front desk asked me when I was due and made me feel horrible as i am not pregnant and I am a person with a normal bmi of 21 so can only imagine what persons with obesity deal with. Then when I asked to have the order printed with egd because I can't print myself on the app the nurse rolled her eyes came back with a print out that was not an official order . I was then told they couldnt provide me an order because they didnt have a rx pad. Unfortunatley didn't catch her name. She kept saying I wouldn't need it. And I proceeded to explain multiple times that there is a 1 year wait for egd at north shore at other locations and we just had a failed egd because of poor recommendation by endeavor gi to complete at a facility that didn't have access to anasesiologist. It is illegal not to allow pt to go to facility of their choosing and orders are required for scheduling egd which they could not provide me, the nurse or ma was extremely outwardly rude and rolling their eyes the entire time when i asked for a request that woukd take max 2 minutes . Even after knowing about failed procedure and probably huge bill we will recieve for no service provided because they couldn't be bothered. I tried to explain we would need to schedule elsewhere because you don't have availability and literally cant come back to this location because you dont offer the service . She left came back again and rolled her eyes again. Very unfortunate because if she had been nice I would of just called for an order because they didnt have a rx pad but so appalled by the outward rudeness of half the staff. 3 of 6 were fine the other 3 were horrible and made me feel horrible will never go back here i can't imagine what patients feel who don't have a background in health care. First experience after the transition to endeavor appears to be very toxic environment. I also think the fact they only allow internal orders and don't even make orders in their emr is a way to create health care monolopy they make it very difficult to go else where for care which is probably why they can afford to be so mean to their patients. In addition there was a Spanish speaking woman that as a customer I helped find her office and appt because the info desk did not , and did not offer her interpreter. Or take a minute to physically show her where to go when it was clear she didn't understand what they said. She came up and asked me for help instead. Just absolutely horrible experience. I hope the doctor we saw finds a job elsewhere since she was actually caring but it's clear staff is not treated well and bad work culture or they would...

Summary of Incident On September 16, 2025, I attended a scheduled oncology surgery follow-up appointment at Skokie Hospital. After my appointment, I was instructed to schedule a six-month follow-up visit and also to make a mammogram appointment. While attempting to schedule the mammogram, I encountered unprofessional and hostile behavior from a staff member at the 3rd-floor mammogram desk, which escalated into a physical confrontation.
Detailed Account
Initial Appointment Check-In I checked in and completed my oncology surgeon appointment successfully. I was instructed to return in six months and to schedule a mammogram.
Attempt to Schedule Mammogram At approximately 9:15 AM, I approached the mammogram desk where a Hispanic woman with dark hair in a ponytail was stationed. I requested to schedule my mammogram at Swedish Covenant Hospital, which is part of NorthShore. The staff member rudely responded that Swedish Covenant is not part of NorthShore, contradicting established information. I attempted to show proof on my phone, but she dismissed me and refused to look, stating, 'I donāt care.'
Escalation I asked for her supervisor. I was told the supervisor was unavailable and performing a procedure. I requested the staff memberās name for reporting purposes. She refused to provide her name. I requested security be called. Security never responded despite repeated requests.
Physical Confrontation As I was walking away with my nurse and another mammogram staff member, the same employee came out into the hallway near the elevators. She aggressively approached me, raising her voice, and physically charged at me twice. This occurred in front of witnesses (my nurse and a mammogram nurse). I did not threaten her or take her picture, though she accused me of doing so.
Security Response I went downstairs to request security assistance. Security did not file an immediate written report. Instead, they gave me phone numbers and told me to 'write it up later.' This response failed to protect my safety in the moment and minimized the seriousness of the incident. Concerns and Violations The staff member displayed hostile, unprofessional, and aggressive behavior toward a patient. She refused to provide her name, obstructing accountability. She physically charged at me twice, which constitutes attempted assault. Security failed to respond appropriately or file an immediate report. This incident has left me feeling helpless as a patient and threatend by a staff that know one knows her name. at Skokie Hospital.
Requested Actions
Immediate review of this incident and identification of the staff member involved. A formal written response from hospital administration acknowledging and addressing the matter. Disciplinary action or retraining for the staff member to ensure patient safety and professionalism. Review of hospital policy regarding security response to patient complaints. Assurance that future appointments will be handled...
