Golden Wok — Restaurant in Nitro

My wife and I attended a concert in Pittsburgh, and we visited several famous restaurants around the area only to find complete disappointment with all. It was awful. Then we decided to leave that metropolitan nightmare and head back home to Kentucky.

On the way, we got hungry and pulled off into this town, choosing this little strip mall on a whim. Strip malls often have some random hole-in-the-wall Asian place, and we found this one.

We are now deeply upset that it's so far away. That was the best general tso's chicken I've ever had in my life, and likewise for my wife's sesame chicken. The sauces were amazing, the batter on the chicken stayed crispy, it was very affordable, and the chef knocked it all out in less than 10 minutes. This was genuinely the greatest Chinese food we've ever had, but we had it as travelers, and we'll likely never get the chance again.

If you're traveling through, you owe it to yourself to give this place some business. You will not be disappointed. Great staff, likely a family, and better food than you could have imagined from a little strip mall.

We can't go back and give them more money, but we can tell strangers to give them a try. These people deserve more than any big chain I've...

The food was very good. Everything I ordered was fresh and heated. This place makes food as it’s ordered!

Had C15 Beef with mushrooms ($8.95).Great portion. The sauce had a great taste. Didn’t overpower any of the other ingredients. Mushrooms where so juicy and beef like texture that I couldn’t tell the difference between the beef and a mushroom! Pork fried rice didn’t have a whole bunch of vegetables (I prefer it that way). Very well seasoned and it actually had bits of pork and onion cooked in with the rice. Very good and awesome flavor. Egg roll was included and very warm. I ordered the fried crispy wonton (8 @ $4.75). Came with orange sauce. Great as well. Hot and Sour soup ($2.75 pint). Very good flavor. Just wish it had ginger shoots and more egg drop. Spicy notes and tofu was on point. The entire meal was filling and enjoyed. This was my first time ordering from here. I had the order delivered ($3.00). Driver called me before his arrival and arrived promptly. I will keep this place in mind if I have time to stop for a great meal. I was not compensated in any way...

Man this restaurant is the sleeper pick for good Chinese food. I’ve eaten at every single Chinese restaurant in Kanawha county and this one blows the others away.

I spent a total of $27 and got 2 combination platters (comes with pork fried rice and a pork egg roll), 2 extra egg rolls and an order of 8 crab ragoons. Amazing deal honestly. And everything was absolutely delicious. I’m a fried rice connoisseur and I’m not joking when I say that was the best fried rice I’ve ever eaten at a Chinese restaurant.

Lastly the staff was so nice, I don’t get why people are saying the staff is rude because the woman that rung my order up was so polite and nice.
