El Charro: A Taste of Mexico Right Here in Nixa
There are times when you just need a good plate of Mexican food. You know what I mean: something spicy, cheesy, meaty, and satisfying. Something that makes you feel like you’re in a cantina south of the border, surrounded by mariachi music and festive colors. Something that doesn’t break the bank but fills you up, by filling you with happiness.
That’s when you head to El Charro in Nixa. This place is the real deal: a family-owned restaurant that serves authentic Mexican cuisine with fresh ingredients and homemade recipes. You can smell the tortillas sizzling on the grill as soon as you walk in, and you can hear the kitchen sizzling with juicy meats and vegetables. The menu is extensive, offering everything from tacos and burritos to enchiladas and fajitas. But let me tell you what I ordered, and why you should too.
I started with the enchiladas, which are rolled tortillas stuffed with your choice of meat pt cheese and topped with a rich sauce and even more cheese. I went for the chicken enchiladas with green sauce, which had a tangy and slightly spicy flavor that contrasted nicely with the tender chicken and melted cheese. The enchiladas were served with a side of beans and rice, which were fluffy and flavorful, and a salad, which added some freshness and crunch.
Next, I tried the Chile rellenos, which are Anaheim peppers stuffed with cheese and fried in a light batter. These were amazing: the peppers were soft and smoky, the cheese was gooey and salty, and the batter was crispy and airy. The Chile rellenos came with a red sauce that had a hint of sweetness and heat, and a dollop of sour cream that balanced it out. They were also accompanied by beans and rice, which I mixed with the sauce for extra deliciousness.
Finally, I indulged in the fajitas, which are strips of steak, chicken, or shrimp cooked with onions and peppers on a hot skillet. You can choose from beef, chicken, shrimp, or a combination of all three. I opted for the combo, because why the heck not? The fajitas were sizzling when they arrived at my table, along with warm tortillas, shredded cheese, lettuce, tomato, guacamole, and sour cream. The meat was tender and well-seasoned, the onions and peppers were caramelized and charred, and the tortillas were soft and pliable. I made my own tacos by wrapping the meat and veggies in the tortillas, and adding some cheese, guacamole, and sour cream on top. It was a feast for the senses: the aroma, the texture, the taste. It was perfect.
The service at El Charro is fast and friendly, and the atmosphere is both cozy and casual. The restaurant is clean and spacious, and the decor was colorful and festive. I enjoyed the music playing in the background, which added to the Mexican vibe. The prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality and quantity of food. I paid less than $20 for my meal, and I had leftovers for later.
I highly recommend El Charro to anyone who loves Mexican food or who wants to try something new and delicious. It’s a great place to go with family or friends or even by yourself. You’ll be treated like a regular, and you’ll leave with a smile on your face. El Charro is one of the best restaurants in Nixa, Missouri. And trust me: I know good food when I see it.
My advice is to follow the instructions of Speedy Gonzales as you head to El Charro for your next meal, Andale! Andale! Arriba!...
Read moreWe went in sat down ate and it was okay. When it came down to paying I had a few questions about my recipe now I've never been there I've been in Missouri for 3 weeks. So I walk up and ask the gentleman what where the four .99cent charges I'm not flipping out I'm not being rude I was mostly curious and he said it was for the extra sour cream and tomatoes I was okay and the other two , he then said the green sauce and he goes to bring a menu out and point to the side as I'm reading it I was not even on the side part. So I asked him why were we not informed about this before we got it? He said I'm sorry but your going to have to pay. I'm like that's fine I was curious but for next time I would let the customers know. He then starts to say well I'm sorry but your gonna have to pay but this time with attitude at this point I wanted to speak with the manager and he then goes to tell me that he is the manager well I'm at the point were you shouldn't be talking to your customers like that especially when I asked a question about something that were putting our money in. At this point my friends end up getting involved I eventually step back another employee comes up asking if theres a issues I walk over to him and I explain the situation to him. And at this point my friends are getting escorted out and the manger tosses the change at my friend now my friend did toss the change on the counter and walked out but for a manager to toss change at a customer is not okay he should have kept it and let it be. I've been a manager I know how rough it is to be a manager but that is unacceptable for anyone to do...
