WRONG HOURS POSTED ON THE BUILDING BESIDE DOOR AND ON THIS APP. Went to dine here 3 times way "post covid". First time we walked in and had the second door shut in our face during 'open hours' - said they were too busy to take any more orders. Second time drove up to the drive thru during posted open hours. No one came to the order area (it was lit and it wasn't even 5 so assumed they were open). After a considerable wait, drove around to the front and restaurant was dark. Today walked in on a Tuesday at 8:01, obviously doors unlocked. There were people eating in the diningroom. We were told by the girl still standing behind the counter (menu board and kitchen behind her still lit with fryers going) that they were closed. She did say "sorry we're closed" but then argued with me about the sign not saying they were open until 10pm on Tuesday. When I pounted to the sign, she then said "well that's during regular hours"???? What??? I asked if they would please change their signage, especially the one posted on the building right by the entrance and promptly left. As we drove away, we saw on the EXIT SIDE of the 'drive thru' sign way up on a pole - 'close 8pm'. This was not on the side you see when driving through the entrance off the road. We've given up with this place. Can't rate the food bc we can't catch them open!!! Plenty of other places to eat after 8 in Defiance Ohio. Will not try again. Done! NOTE: After reading almost all reviews, how is this place rated a 4.1 star restaurant??? Something is not right. I 'will' be leaving a review on Trip...
Read moreUpdate to my below review from four years ago. I can't review the food because we weren't served. Our family arrived at 8 pm after driving an hour based on posted hours saying open until 10pm. They closed mere seconds before we arrived and the guy on the drive thru acknowledged they knew the posted hours were wrong. But no apologies. No accommodation. No service.
Perhaps it was a crazy, busy day. Perhaps the workers are frustrated the posted hours are wrong. But courtesy seemed in short supply.
We went to Chipotle. They were happy to take our money and their posted hours of 10pm were accurate. Several burritos and a couple burrito bowls...all delicious.

This is the closest Captain D's to our hometown area. We drive one hour, each way, a few times a year to visit this restaurant and then often take our food to a local park for a picnic.
Plus side: Fried fish, grilled salmon, seafood are all good, often surprisingly better than you would expect from a fast food fish place.
Critiques: side sizes are all noticeably smaller than our last visit, about a year ago. Mozzarella sticks are less cheese and more breading. Nearly everyone in our party of five found themselves still hungry with what used to result...
Read moreI stopped by to get some ice water since it was the closest place after shopping. I pulled into the drive through the very first thing that was said was “it will be a 20 minute wait.” I said “uh okay, I was just gonna order a large cup of ice water.” After a long pause she said “if you come inside we won’t charge you for it” I said “well I’m 8 months pregnant so I’ll just pay in the drive through.” She said “the people at the window ordered $60 worth of food so we need you to come inside.” I debated on just leaving but instead I said “okay.” As I walked inside she had her backed turned to the counter and talking to the worker in the kitchen she said “I don’t know how hard it is to just come inside, who even orders just ice water anyways? She’s probably just lazy and drove off.” Then she finally turns around, realizes I was there and says “uhh what can I get for you?” After she gets the cup of water I pulled out my wallet. She said “I’m not going to make you pay for that.” I said “okay but next time you probably shouldn’t talk crap about your pregnant customers who are standing right behind you.” She was about mid 40’s, brown hair, bigger lady, INCREDIBLY RUDE. I like captain D’s but I was...
