Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Norfolk

I’m only giving this place two stars because the bartenders Aaron and Janeice were great and the food was decent. HOWEVER, when we first got in there was NO ONE there waiting in front of us. We were originally planning to get a table but after having to wait for so long we decided to seat ourselves at the bar. Nobody was at the hostess table, workers walked past us like we didn’t exist and never paid us any mind. Fast forward, we just ordered little appetizers which were good and my friend ordered drinks which she said were also really good. I can’t drink right now so i just decided to continue to eat lol, i put in an order for a side salad and when it finally came out someone from the kitchen bought it BUT she took it to someone else’s table first and then bought it to me. She was very pleasant when she left though but it’s the principle. Some other Bartender came in by the name of Shannon, she was more concerned with having the other bartender, Janeice, work her shift because she had a trip that night than serving anybody. The only person she was really concerned with serving was a man who didn’t seem to like what she had made for him. I asked Shannon if she could take the salad back. She asked why and after my explanation of I just didn’t want it because i didn’t like the way it looked plus it went to someone else’s table before me; she cut me off and popped nasty with me by saying, “Fine it doesn’t even matter, I’ll take it back”. I had to question if I was rude to her first. She then continued to ignore us when we were clearly done with our food. She didn’t ask us if we wanted anything else or anything. The other workers were also very busy on their phones to tend to anything or anyone. Finally when we were able to get our checks Shannon popped nasty again when my friend mentioned a military discount to me, never to Shannon. I told my friend that i thought that was only on tuesdays. She turned and asked did we have one and we responded yes and then she seem to get annoyed because she would have to redo the checks. Mindful, we weren’t making a big deal about it because neither of us pulled out IDs, we were just talking about it amongst ourselves, so what’s with the attitude sis? Needless to say I hope someone worked her shift for because Ms.Shannon clearly did not want to miss out...

This is the 3rd attempt at this location and they continue to disappoint more each visit. Our waitress arrived dropped off appetizer plates (not washed and still had the previous customers remaining food on them) took our drink order and didn't return for 10 minutes and only with our child's drink at which time we pointed out the dirty plates to only hearing gross and taking them. She took the plates and after another 10 minutes mine and my wife's drinks arrived with new plates. My beer was disgusting and warm my wife said her bahama mama was ok. Our waitress took our order and we didn't see her again for 35 minutes when she stopped to say sorry but somehow they got packed and orders got put ahead of ours (there were only 8 tables with 2-3 customers each and we only ordered a corn dog, tacos, and fried shrimp) finally 10 minutes later our food arrived. Brisket tacos were cold and disgusting full of all slimy fat almost No actual meat so I only ate 1 and shrimp that was over cooked, apparently they got a corndog right after 45 minutes because our 2 year old enjoyed his although he had no refill on his drink to wash it down! My wife ordered a second bahama mama and unfortunately it took another 15 minutes and a complete different server to bring it to her as she was already done eating the small edible amount of her dinner also. Bottom line is we have been 3 times and the service completely SUCKS the food SUCKS, and the place is disgusting. I'm always a huge tipper but I had thoughts of just walking out without even paying and our waitress still wouldn't realize we were gone cause she never acknowledged we were there in the first place thanks Kayla and your welcome for still tipping an undeserving 15%. I will never return to this Applebee’s and quite possibly any Applebee’s ever again due to these experiences. The manager was nowhere to be found and the staff were clearly either not trained or as I saw it just flat out didn’t care or appreciate having a job at all. We go to let them know how many guests we have with us they tell us the wait is going to be 25 minutes if we like we can go outside and wait we're outside for maybe 15 minutes go to go back inside and there was four guests behind us and now they got a table before us hold on it gets better they tell us is only one waitress working we said okay I sit there I order a soda my wife orders a drink we are waiting we get our drink we get our appetized we wait 35 minutes or 45 minutes for food I ordered the two for $27 my wife got her food I got mine my steak was cold it still had a heartbeat the broccoli was just like they just cut it off the tree the potatoes were so cold that they were still ice on them hold on it gets better I left the server know the server takes the food back to the back and I hear the cook in the back saying he's not getting that f thing I cut the grill off then the waitress comes back and says it will be a couple minutes while I'm sitting there listening to the waitress and the cook argue about my food how they're not going to bring me food and not ask to speak to a manager this is at 11:29 then the manager comes up and says I'm sorry sir the grill is cut off but I will definitely credit you for food next time you show up so while I'm waiting for her to get my information I decided to go to the restroom I go into the restroom the sink is full of vomit and the story gets better is a 3-in screw hanging out the door from where the door handles not even screwed in when I was leaving the bathroom the screw caught me in the back this is a lovely meal that my wife decided to pay for us I would suggest to go to another location or even better you might as well order food from McDonald's at least the customer service is there they're at their establishment they're very rude and disrespectful thank you for reading this and good luck...
