Higher Heights Caribbean Restaurant — Restaurant in Norfolk

I don't know if I just don't like Caribbean food, or if I don't like this place. The price was good for two meals of the size you got, and it was too much to finish. So the portion was on point/ slightly too much. The problem was it wasn't seasoned, at all. I can handle the food being maybe too adventurous for me, but I loved Bahama Breeze and was excited to try it from a real Caribbean person and not a chain.

I'm not sure if I just went on a bad night, or what, but we found it incredibly bland. I always thought it was just like a white people thing to not season your food but maybe it was an off day. I'd return I think because it was close, but I feel like it was just awful, as compared to my first and only other experience at the chain Bahama Breeze.

So maybe I don't like REAL Caribbean food, maybe I prefer chains, I'm not sure, but I found this very disappointing. $23 for two meals is a fine price, I just was so excited for a real culture to try and the mac n cheese was something someone afraid of...

I will never spend my money here again. I use to go periodically for years. I went on Tuesday and the lady who takes the orders attitude was worse than usual. Not grateful at all for your business. And the portion size is NOT worth the money. BUT MY ISSUE IS BIGGER. I WENT TO THE COUNTER TO PLACE MY ORDER AND MY 6 YEAR OLD SON WENT TO USE THE BATHROOM. THE LADY TAKING ORDERS FOLLOWED HIM INTO THE BATHROOM. WHEN I ASKED WHAT SHE WAS DOING, SHE SAID I NEEDED TO WATCH HIM BECAUSE SOMEONE FLOODED THEIR BATHROOM THE DAY BEFORE!!! I WAS LIVID. First time here today. The lady didn't greet me at all even though she walked past me several times at the cashier's counter where you place your order and pay. She was rude when she finally asked me what I wanted. They were out of plantains. I asked if they did military discounts and she stated no with an attitude. When my food was done, she put it in a bag, and shooed me away with her hand as if she was disgusted. Unbelievable. Customer service was horrendous! To top everything off, my curry goat was disgusting. I barely had any meat, because it was mostly fat that was given to me and the flavoring was terrible.
