First time ever eating at a Cracker Barrel. Food was good. I got my ticket, got up, paid at the register like everyone else. When it came to leaving at the front I was stopped by one of the workers complaining how she said “You can’t leave. You didn’t pay the ticket. It shows an open tap on my system. I saw you get up. Put your ticket in your pocket and you are trying to leave.” I immediately got upset! Other people walked by first who are not Hispanic and weren’t stop, but she stopped me and let everyone else walk by. I felt disrespected and I felt like she racially profiled me because I’m Hispanic! Especially during this time on what’s going on with the politics and government right now. After she stopped me. She was not letting me leave at all after I told her I paid multiple times. She refused to check her system after I told her that I paid multiple times in cash! I even pointed out at the worker who checked me out. I told her to go ask her if I paid when I did! She still refused to ask her if I paid! She refused to do anything I told her and told me “I will take care of it.” Which I also found disrespectful. She made it sound like I didn’t have money to pay for my ticket. I left and walked outside. When I did I remembered I had my receipt that I paid. I go back inside to show her and she still refused to take a look at it. During the argument/process. She was complaining that I was “cussing” at her. To be fair I was, but nothing crazy or aggressive. Treat me with a level of disrespect. I will treat you with a level of disrespect back so I just left my receipt with her and left. After I walked outside and went to my car. I did call and talk to the manager about what happened she was not happy about what happened either. She said she will talk to everyone there and will follow up with her workers and talk about it. I really hope she did. Manger was nice helping me out over the phone. She did try giving me a coupon or something for my next visit which I refused because I am definitely...
Read moreWe had the absolute best service, and the atmosphere was extremely quiet. We got there just before 5 pm. There wasn't a wait to be seated, so we got to enjoy the quiet setting. We were waited on by Kinzie, and it was amazing. She was patient with me, as I never know what I want to eat anyway, but when we were ready, she took our orders, and before we knew it, we were dining on delicious muffins and biscuits with butter and jelly. My favorite was the Blackberry Preserve. Before we knew it, our food was being set in front of us, and it was phenomenal. I had the homestyle chicken with Mac and cheese and broccoli! Yummy! My husband had the southern fried chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and cream gravy and green beans. He didn't leave a trace on his plate when he was finished. Last but not least, my son ordered the homestyle chicken BLT without anything but the chicken and bun! Kinzie was so amazing to make sure he only got the chicken and bun! Plus, he got to order a double order of those amazing homestyle steak fries. 😋 Of course, I had to order my pupper a chopped steak to go because he's my baby dog. He had it devoured it in 5 seconds flat. After dinner we decided to do a little shopping in the country store and I found some of the best cups with straws that are on my wish list, and my son and husband stopped at the huge selection of candy and got themselves a sweet snack for the ride home. All in all, it was a fantastic family dinner and...
Read moreWe've encountered inconsistent service and food quality at this restaurant, and unfortunately our most recent visit was an example of one of their "down" days.
(1) Our server seemed to lack confidence in her role and abilities. Her behavior and speech failed to communicate a welcoming presence and she was very slow to return for things like refills despite the fact at 2:30 p.m. the restaurant was not busy.
(2) We were not offered biscuits or rolls despite the fact we ordered from the full menu (not lunch menu). The table next to us did receive breads.
(3) My wife paid extra for a salad as a side but it wasn't edible due to slime and brown spots throughout the lettuce. Someone should have paid attention to this and had another made. Because our server was slow to return we'd almost finished eating before we could show her the problem. (However, she did arrange for the cost of a soft drink to make up for the inedible side.)
(4) The young man at checkout was distant and detached. He was a bit more personable when I came back to pay for items from the store.
(5) A bright spot was an woman who was restocking shelves in the store. She took time to show new items to me and shared about products for sale. She exhibited what I've come to expect from Cracker Barrel.
We'll return sometime because we've had some good experiences here. Every store has down days, but this one seems to encounter...
