Waffle House — Restaurant in Norman

I was absolutely in shock of the lack of professionalism of the staff here. Some friends and I went out around midnight to get some waffles and chat and we did not think that we were going to be treated with so much disrespect. When the waiter asked how I wanted my bacon cooked, I explained that I did not want it crispy and I wanted it a little floppy; after that, another waiter then chimes in and says "you look like you would like your bacon floppy because you look a little off" while making made a feminine gesture with his hand. I was so in shock that all I could think to say was a comment about how rude that was. The same waiter proceeded to annoy our table throughout our meal and was even pestering a friend that was on the phone saying "let me talk to them" over and over after we said no. After his shift ended, he walked by our table and yelled very loudly in order to scare us and we ended up jumping on knocking over numerous drinks all over the table. I have NEVER experienced so much disrespect from a waiter and I was even more in awe that no one else working in the restaurant tried to chime in and make him stop. The wall even has a sign that says Waffle House will not treat anyone with disrespect based on who they are, what they order, etc. I am just so surprised that this employee is getting paid to act this way to customers. After an hour wait, IHOP failed to get our food to us and failed to check on us or communicate any problems they had. We walked out! We headed to Whataburger on Main Street. Drive thru too long so we decided to dine in. After 15 minutes in line it never moved once. Then we realized no orders were being taken and people were getting frustrated. We just dealt with IHOP's insufficiency so we walked out of this place as well. So Waffle House it is! We walked in, sat down, and we were immediately greeted. Drink orders taken and served and then our food order was taken. Within 5 minutes those who ordered waffles were served first. These waffles were soooo good! Then within very few minutes the rest our order arrives hot. Our waitress came over about 5 minutes after we began eating and apologized because she got caught up doing dishes. What?! She was doing great and we were happy. We got in and out of there within 30 minutes. Should have just gone here first but it's been 35 years since I was in a waffle house and I wasn't even able to eat at that time. My sister was pregnant and her water broke right after we ordered. We were so excited we yelled across the restaurant to cancel the order we have a baby coming! As we walked out people were giving congratulations and cheering for good luck. Truly a movie moment. We went in around 2:15 pm Saturday Sept 15, 2018. It didn't appear to be very crowded or busy. The cooking station was located in an open area where you could see the employees cooking and talking. It took around 10 min for someone to come take our order. The cooks appeared to be in a frenzy. I overheard one say, "we got this ladies order wrong" Moments later I heard" they didn't get any toast with their order" When our food was brought to our table, just a partial order of my husbands food was brought..I told the waitress that he didn't get his sausage or his waffle. He started eating and was halfway finished when his sausage was brought over. Still no waffle. I watched someone take a waffle out that was burnt. A different lady came over and said "I'm sorry but someone put your waffle on for 3 hours instead of 3 minutes. I will fix you another one" About 7 minutes later, that was brought over to him. In my opinion your order shouldn't be brought out to you in bits and pieces with delays in between times. I ordered a patty melt. I had almost eaten all of it when I realized they had left the grilled onions off. I was rather distraught with the way my husbands meal was brought out, as well as hearing them talk about all the other wrong orders they had made. They appeared very rushed with no organization.
