We have always been fans of the Interurban, from when they had locations in south Oklahoma City to their current Norman location. Ordinarily, we've been more than pleased with our choices, but we must admit our visit Friday was less than stellar.
We started with a Southwest Egg Roll appetizer, which was piping hot and delicious. My wife and I each chose entrees from their Friday specials menu; she chose the Chicken Tortilla soup with side salad, while I chose fried Atlantic cod. Unfortunately, we were both somewhat disappointed. My wife noted that her soup had an excessively strong salty taste, and I concurred. She left over half her serving uneaten. My cod was not served as a single piece, but as a plate of about 7 or 8 "mcnugget sized" portions that had almost as much batter as fish. The fried batter overwhelmed the cod and left little flavor behind. The hush puppies were slightly overcooked, but the fries and coleslaw were good. But I would not opt for a second try of this particular entree.
Our service was in all respects very attentive and pleasant, and this one disappointment doesn't detract from our overall positive opinion of Interurban. We will likely visit Interurban again, but just make different...
Read moreWe had not eaten here in around 4 years, as the last few times weren't that great. I have been eating at the one in Chickasha a lot recently, and I will say it's FAR superior in every way. It's nicer, cleaner, better menu, and way better food and drinks. We came in last night and got some apps, food, and alcoholic drinks. First, comparing the menus isn't even close, the other Interurban has a lot more options, and the bar is way better at making drinks. I ordered the same burger I had tried in Chickasha, and it was not even close on quality. This one was far more greasy, and the bacon was overcooked, also the fries were undercooked. My wife said her steak was great, our appetizer of chicken nachos was definitely not nachos, it was about 10 chips with a little cheese, a few chunks of chicken, and some salsa and sour cream. Our other guests said their food was good, but nothing special. Our server was great, and kept our drinks full and our food came quickly, but when comparing identical restaurants, the differences in quality between the two are glaring. I don't know how a much smaller town has a far better Interurban, but it's honestly just worth driving the extra 25 minutes to see my friends...
Read moreTHERES ONLY ONE REASON I AM GIVING THIS A 5 STAR AND IT IS BECAUSE OF A SPECIFIC MANAGER!!!!! I want to give this a 5 star, I do. My pork chop was under cooked- which apparently they do that automatically unless you ask for it to be cooked another way, would have been nice to be told that ahead of time. The waitress didn’t bring anything in a timely manner and she didn’t give absolutely any refills. I had to ask another server for things multiple times after waiting 10-15 minutes for her to come back. She was super nice but completely oblivious on how to be a server (which I had done it for 17+ years in the past) but when the manager came out- she was absolutely fantastic, she listened, engaged in small talk about serving etc and offered to replace the pork chop but instead got us some more loaded mashed potatoes and a dessert and took care of most of our bill. But it wasn’t just because she did that (that was a big deal to me) it was also her personality. I wish I could remember her name and I wanted to write this sooner, but she was amazing!!!! She had blonde hair and was pretty, I think she was from a different store different location and she came there...
