We stayed for 6 days while our daughter attended the OU softball camp. Overall the hotel was clean and staff was friendly. But, there was no hot tub, yet they advertise as having one. One of the reasons we booked with them was because of a hot tub, this is the 2nd hotel in the Norman OK area to do this to us. Also the beds need to be queen sized not full sized. My wife and I practically had to lay on our sides at night to sleep because the bed just wasn't big enough for the two of us. Granted, we are not little people, but we are not obese either. Beds are just small! My biggest complaint would have to be about the bath tubs! Omg, you can't stand in one to take a shower without feeling like you are going to break your ankle, literally!! The bottom of the tubs are so concave, it's crazy! I ask that the manger, any staff member or even the owner, please stand in the tub and try it for yourself, you will see exactly what I mean! Whoever the engineer was that designed those tubs should be fired!! Seriously!!!! We also had a few issues with the cleaning and servicing of our room. My wife had to call the front desk a couple of times asking why our room hadn't been cleaned or towels hadn't been stocked. She was told housekeeper has until 3pm to clean an occupied room. However, it was around 3:30pm each time she had to call and ask. And the cleaning wasn't the greatest when it comes to the room either. As a former person who used to work in the hotel industry I tend to look at my room differently than others do. I can tell you that the housekeeper doesn't dust next to the refrigerator or microwave. The amount of dust that was on the shelves that these appliances sat on was crazy thick! Tub didn't drain very well either, I'm sure the drain was full of hair. Another big thing I noticed is that the pool lights do not work at night. I am a C.P.O and I can tell you, if a pool inspector came there he would shut that pool down because of the lights not working! You might want to get those fixed. Like I have previously mentioned, overall the hotel itself was clean and staff was friendly and you had my favorite hotel breakfast almost every day, biscuits...
Read moreI DO NOT recommend this hotel. The best thing about the hotel was the staff. Valerie, Nancy and other staff members were very nice and welcoming. Shelley (front desk clerk) was rude, not helpful and acted as though she hated being there. She snapped at me as I opened a bottle of water I was waiting on her to pay for. You can tell this property has had recent upgrades, but the elevator will tell you just how old this property is. The elevator was old, jolted a couple of times and make noises that didn't make me feel very safe. The continental breakfast is minimal at best and is more like a snack stop. It would be nice if staff would clean up after messy customers left the dining area, but they leave the mess there for everyone using the front entrance to see. I had trouble with my key cards getting me into my room as well as the secured side entrance. I had to visit the front desk just about every time I wanted to get into my room. EXTREMELY ANNOYING!!!! I was told I couldn't keep the keys near anything electronic or in the heat as that would erase the cards. If I couldn't keep the key cards in my purse (because my cell phone was in there) and I couldn't keep them in my car (it was too hot) where was I suppose to keep my key cards when I left the hotel? I did appreciate the orange-flavored water they provided in the lobby, but I really didn't enjoy my stay here. You had to hold the handle down on the toilet for it to flush, the air conditioner was loud and would run until the room was icy cold then wouldn't turn on again until the room was very hot. A nice, consistent temperature would have been nice. Also, make sure you check the location of this hotel to where you will doing things while in Norman. This property wasn't close to anything or any place I was visiting. I spent a lot of time driving to my destinations. This hotel is not worth the money you will pay. Oh, and it is pet friendly, so be prepared to listen to barking dogs while in your room and housekeeping only visits your room every third or fourth day, so don't expect daily...
Read moreI travel as part of my career, and consequently I find myself staying at many hotels. Upon arrival to La Quinta in Norman, OK you immediately notice that the parking area is well lit, yet still ambient and inviting. I was traveling with a van and trailer, and there was ample room for me to park my vehicle safely. The area around the hotel was nice, and I didn’t notice people walking around at night. Once inside the lobby, you immediately notice that the hotel is either new or has had a remodel happen recently. A very modern yet comfortable area with sitting area, coffee, tea, concession shop, and welcoming front desk. Front desk clerk was very helpful and friendly in assisting me with my check in. We stayed on the second floor and were very impressed with the clean hallways and the new style of La Quinta. The room was easy to find and the hall way nicely lit. Upon entering the room, I was surprised with how spacious it was. A nice hall way with closet, double doors to the bathroom, and a very homey sleeping area. It was cleaned to very high standard that should be example for other hotels. The air conditioning worked well, the room stayed dark with the curtains drawn, and there was a mini fridge to hold our leftovers from dinner. The bedroom we requested included double beds. I am very cautious on hotel beds after a few bad incidents in my travels, and I inspect them in detail. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the bedding and mattress. The beds and pillows were very comfortable and we slept very well. There were plenty of power outlets for all of us to charge our multitude of wireless devices close to our sides of the beds. The bathroom was modern. Well lit backlighting on the mirror was comfortable and not blinding like in some other establishments. I’m quite tall, but I fit in the shower nicely. The pressure was nice as well. Overall, it felt like I was in a room at a high priced boutique hotel. I’ve stayed at enough to know. I’d definitely come back to this La Quinta. The value, comfort, and safety of the hotel makes for...
