What the heck happened to this place???
This was our 2nd trip to this restaurant, but is likely our last. Our first experience many months ago was good, which is what prompted us to come again. This time it seemed like a completely different place. Perhaps the ownership or management has changed.
The key difference this time was absolutely blaring, annoying music. Music is a matter of taste, so my complaint isn't so much the type of music. It was the loudness. Forget having a conversation over your food... and forget the waiter being able to hear your order.
First, we were kept waiting a very long time. The waiter was enjoying yelling at another worker. I assume it was a friendly discussion and the yelling was just due to the music volume. But their conversation meant our wait. Even with a thorough leisurely stroll through the menu, we had about 5 times more wait than we needed.
Then came the chore of ordering over the music. We all had to repeat ourselves multiple times. In the end, our food order was correct, but the drinks weren't None of us bothered complaining, It would've just been another shouting match and the waiter probably couldn't have understood anyway.
The complete lack of attentiveness appeared to be a feature of the waiter. Not only was his discussion with other staff members more important than our order, but he was also sporting a wireless earbud/microphone in one ear. Perhaps he was trying to keep one ear from going deaf, but it can't have helped his comprehension of our order.
The first major disappointment with the food was the obligatory chips and salsa. Last time the setup included queso. That is now extra. The salsa wasn't... salsa. It was perhaps a kind of weak hot sauce, slightly thinner than ketchup with no chunks of vegetable matter: Very boring and nondescript.
The main courses were acceptable, but nothing to write home about. Portions were a decent size.
The main complaint with the food would be the fajitas. There wasn't much of a char on anything. There was no "grill" flavor whatsoever. It was almost as if they'd made it as a soup and just drained off some of the moisture. The traditional sizzling fajita plate wasn't sizzling at all... it wasn't even hot enough to give off any steam from the excessive moisture.
When ordering I had asked for extra onions. If the place had been more quiet, I would've likely explained they could even short me some on the meat if they'd heap on the onions. But with the loudness, I just hoped he'd hear about the onions. Somehow, I almost feel like they went out of their way NOT to give me onions. The meat was plentiful, as were the bell peppers. Perhaps over the din he thought I wanted fewer onions...
What few onions the dish had were mostly in one mass. It was the bottom slice of an onion, held together by the dense center core that the root system comes out of. Not very appetizing.
The extras/sides were NOT abundant. In particular, the pico de gallo was almost non-existent. Ditto with the sour cream and guacamole. So, the toppings that might have elevated the main courses couldn't do their jobs. Some thin beans and a few grains of rice weren't enough to provide any bulk... but I have to admit that the main courses were so plentiful that it didn't matter. But you'd think using the beans and rice for bulk might've let them provide more toppings and still make their price point.
Perhaps the current economic hard times are to blame. Since this is Oklahoma, I guess we should blame Biden.
However, if you want a techno-mexican dance party complete with music featuring a blaring siren... this...

First, the food was okay. It has always been super flavorful but tonight it was alright. Not bad but pretty good. But when I asked for the drink I always get (Ocean Margherita) but this time the girl acted like I had no idea what she was talking about then said the only blue Margherita they had was a Hynotica. But after I came, I looked again and found it. Hypnotica was more expensive (of course)... then the Hawaiian Fajitas I ordered came with Queso on it. I asked her what kind and she said the same as the dip. I said oh no thank you, since most of the Mexican restaurants in Oklahoma dont use real cheese but actually use potatoes... but then when it came it was kind of bland so I told her, can I actually have the queso (thinking it would taste better)... I only ate one thing of tortillas so when I was sone and packing things to go I asked for another. When I got the bill.... she not only charged me for the queso that came with my meal, she also charged me for the tortillas. The EVERYTHING (except the guacamole) was individually taxed, regular sales taxed again and then a credit card surcharge.
When I complained to the owner he tried to argue with me and said the cheese dip is different then what comes on the Fajitas so I told him, "I asked for the queso that came with the meal"... he reluctantly took it off. Bill was $90 and you want to argue over $4... bro your customer service sucks!
Tell your server to KNOW the menu then.
I will never be back. Too expensive for mediocre food. We came cuz it was close to the house and easy to get to and use to be really good. But never again. We will go to El Mirador for Mexican food near the house. The food is amazing, the prices are awesome and the CUSTOMER SERVICE is the...
Read moreFirst impression walking in, wasnât that great, a sign hanging to seat self in bar area and no one at the bar area. I was also looking to sit somewhere more alone. Iâve been told several times I needed to try this place and I finally getting the chance to. Waited several minutes to be greeted and waited on, which they just opened and it was just me and other person so far. I got a mojito and it was so big and great tasting. Whatever chips and salsa they brought to me was very spicy, and I normally love spicy. I ordered a #11- 1 taco, 1 gordita, 1 enchilada, with steak for the meat. Before I ordered this plate I asked to make sure there were no beans on it, and in the Gordita there was refried beans. I get a lot of Mexican food has beans but thatâs why I asked before I ordered it and I would have asked no beans and if that wasnât possible I would have ordered something different. The taco was good I just wish I knew it came on a corn tortilla I would have asked for flour, but it was still good. I wished the waiter was informative when taking my order and making sure I was okay with everything coming on my plate. Iâm not a fan of the red sauce on the enchilada but still ate it because the meat inside was good. I had the hardest time picking around the beans in Gordita. Iâm not impressed with it being my first time here with the customer service. I feel like the tables and the bar is way too close, the party of all males that came in was way too close to me for comfort. With all that being said after I finished my meal I still had chips left and decided to order a side of queso because every Mexican restaurant should have a good queso, it was really lukewarm. From this first experience I wasnât much impressed over besides having a...
