I had good vibes going in but they were quickly erased after we finally were waited on. Place was busy- which can be a good sign in some cases, but not this one. We ordered a glass of Maracuya, a beef empanada, chicken soup, seco and the lomo saltado. We also asked for a cork screw and wine glass. Well the juice never came, she forgot the empanada and the chicken soup was lost in the kitchen I guess. My husbands dinner came out in 10 minutes and mine took much longer so I watched him eat. The waitress didn’t come back to the table and she was difficult to get her attention. My food came finally after about 25 minutes still no appetizers soup or drink. I got my own water from the cooler because she did not…. The one other waitress got a cork screw but no glass. Had to ask for the several times. When we did ask about the missing food I was told “sorry mommy” I didn’t hear you ask. But she said I won’t charge you. (No kidding). Then suddenly the guy from the kitchen came walking out with it after my dinner was done??? I was so confused ? The food was good. But the poor service just ruined the meal. Won’t be back as there are so many choices it’s no necessary to visit a place that...
Read moreMy friend had told me about this restaurant and we went last night. It ended up being a group of nine. I shared the mixed ceviche and chaufa (fried rice) with pork. The ceviche was great and I would definitely come back for that. The chaufa was tasty. Another friend had the fried fish entree and said it was really fresh and fish was light and not overly breaded and the fried yuca was awesome. And another had the tallarin verde (pasta with pesto) and said it was more pesto than cream which made it light and not as heavy as other places.Although a small place, the atmosphere and decor was inviting. Not fancy. The chairs were made in Peru and table tops had artisanal artwork. In addition there were a couple of colorful murals. You got the feeling you were in Peru. The place and bathroom were clean. The prices were good for the amount of food. The servers were kind and explained when asked about the food items. It did take a little time to serve but it was a big group. The only con was that they couldn't split the bill. Not sure if the place has its own parking but we found parking quickly. I would...
Read moreMyrna’s never disappoints. The portions are huge! The prices are fair! The taste is amazing! Myrna’s is my favorite Peruvian restaurant! The service is always superb.
I enjoy trying their daily menu options. They have different choices everyday. Plus their “daily menu” comes with either soup or ceviche. It’s a big meal for a good price! It usually saves me from having to cook after a long day. I call ahead and pick up while on my way home.
I am also a big fan of their Kearny, NJ location. But now I prefer North Arlington. The North Arlington location has better parking and is a bit more spacious. It’s also very beautifully decorated. It brings me joy whenever I walk into the restaurant and see it packed. I am glad business is going great. Especially because of the location. Not everyone knows what Peruvian food is.
If you’re on the fence of trying it, I definitely recommend it. Try their Lomo saltado or arroz chaufa! Their papa a la huancaina is absolutely spectacular. Don’t get me started on the green sauce. It’s perfect!
If I could, I would eat from...
