I just returned from Gelone, and was absolutely thrilled with our experience! My friend and I have been going to Paisano's in Rutherford for the past 20 +years, to celebrate our birthdays. Last night I was making our reservations, and read that Paisano's added a "cork fee", 15.00 per 750 ml bottle of wine for byob! Apparently, Paisano's now expects their customers to pay for their new liquor license, and that didn't sit well with us. That is just bad business, so we decided to try somewhere else We checked a few restaurants in our town, and they also charged cork fees, so we tried a restaurant we had used for a few parties in the next town over. We were PLEASANTLY surprised! The food was amazing, the service spectacular, and we had several servers to our table that were quick to refill our water and wine glasses. Did I mention no cork fee? Most important, it was a Saturday night, (we had a reservation), and we were NOT rushed out --even with a line forming outside. That sealed the deal for us! I think we found our new birthday place and I highly recommend this restaurant. The desserts were to die for, too. Give this restaurant a try, you will not be disappointed!

We have loved this place for years the staff and the owner make sure every visit is wonderful. The place is BYOB, so you can save money, if you prefer to bring your own drinks. It does get crowded, so plan ahead and make sure you have time, before you get really hungry. We really enjoy the Carpaccio di Manzo and Burrata Mozzarella to start. Our favorite dish is lo Scoglio and at $23 (currently) it is a steal. My wife and I usually get one appetizer and one main course, since the dishes are huge. The owner is very accommodating, he will help with elder people getting in and out of the place, a real gentleman. They do have a second restaurant, nearby. They have a fixed price menu Monday to Thursday for $20, orders must be placed before 6pm. The fixed price menu has a nice selection including Veal Sorrentino for the main course and Mussels Marinara as an appetizer. There is a separate party room that we have used is very comfortable. The meals starting at $25 for a three course meal include fish. They need 20 people minimum. Gelone is a "Bring Your Own Bottle" establishment, "BYOB" and is open seven days a week.

So I ordered thru Uber eats. Chicken Parm, very bad. As can be seen in the pictures, the breading was coming off and very thin. It did not adhere well to the chicken at all . Also, the chicken was very thick and not thin like chicken. Parm should be. There’s no crispyness . the batter on the chicken Parm had no flavor it was just greasy. I was very disappointed in my chicken Parm. I even got the sauce on the side to avoid the chicken soggy, and it was still drenched in grease and just extremely thick piece of chicken that was not appetizing at all. And when you bit into the chicken the chicken in the inside was dry. It was the worst chicken Parm I’ve ever ordered out in my life. Completely unacceptable for an Italian restaurant. avoid ordering this manual item on this menu. Complete waste of money. Chicken should be thinner have crispiness. The batter should have more way more flavor. I shouldn’t be so greasy on the bottom of the pan.

I came here for a rehearsal dinner and everything seemed fine so I thought I made a good choice booking them for my child’s communion, but it was more of a headache than anything.

-got run around about not leaving a deposit to hold the date and then was told that I did need one

-got the run around on the menu then given attitude and paid extra which seemed out of spite after getting the attitude. They don’t do the menu until a week before which made printing menus difficult. The person to speak to was never available every time I called and the two visits we made even after confirming the person would be there

-I tried several times to contact them about things to get clarification to no avail. Had to send people in person to resolve things since I’m out of state and still it was like pulling teeth. Made coordinating with the other 4 vendors I used very difficult.

-they don’t allow gaming truck even though street parking is a public space

The service was terrible! They put out the wrong cake. Lunch started at 1 and appetizers weren’t even served until after 2pm even with us asking multiple times for them! My kids were so hungry and cranky that they went into shutdown mode and basically ruined the day for the one person we were suppose to be celebrating.

I was there 1-5 pm and was only asked if I wanted a drink twice! We brought so much wine and beer and had so much left over from not enough drinks being given to the guests. When my friend had her rehearsal dinner they put out pitchers of soda, but yet they didn’t do that for our party.

They were not diligent of clearing dirty dishes. Even other vendors that were there commented on how awful the service was and that’s saying a lot since they work many events. I have more examples but limited on space here.

Also the pasta and meat don’t come together. I thought I was getting pasta and chicken but really it was pasta, then salad and then the chicken. The chicken francaise was tasteless. Zero seasoning. The pork chop and salmon were better. Also, the waiter asked if the kids were getting kids menu items and I said no they are getting the menu items we agreed on plus my child doesn’t even like french fries. To my surprise the 3 children next to me got kids menu items. This was very shady and an underhanded way to pull more money because 1. Since when are kids allowed to order without parents’ permission and 2. They charged us for that without consulting us!!!! We had a freagin’ menu meeting and at no point in time did they mention and/or did I agree to an extra children menu at a different. The kids’ parents asked the waiter for items from the menu we agreed on!! So be aware of this in case they pull the same stunt on you.

For the best part, they handed me the custom cake topper I had made for my child broken in pieces! So much for having that memento that I paid so much for.

Everything from start to finish was difficult and stressful. We could not relax and enjoy the day. Anything we would ask seemed too much of a task and like they were doing us some big favor. I just don’t think they are equipped to adequately handle parties in an efficient and professional manner. Also some random people kept stopping by our party to “take a look”,...

WATCH YOUR BILL AT THIS PLACE! Very VERY sneaky...Please do not just hand them your card and assume all is correct. Even if you ask them to correct an error do not assume its corrected, double and even triple check...these people have nerve! It was our first time eating here; there were four of us and we came here for the special, we heard good things from friends. The special includes apps, entree and dessert for $20 a person. Cappuccino and espresso is discounted to around $1 - $1.25. We ordered off the special menu, ate...food was decent. The waitress came for dessert options and rattled off about 15 items. I asked her specifically if there was a dessert menu and that sounded like a lot of dessert to be included in the special. She says nothing! Just smiles. We didn't even want dessert but since it was included we ordered four desserts and espresso/Cappuccino. The bill comes and the total is $137.00! I see that we were charged for all four desserts and about $7 per coffee! The menu clearly states the espresso/Cappuccino's are $1 -$1.25 each. So I call over the waitress and ask her why it's so much...do the math 4 x 20 plus tax and few extra dollars for the coffee, I was expecting around $100 the most. She explains that the desserts we ordered weren't included in the special! I said "I asked you and you didn't say anything..you knew we were ordering off the special menu, you never told us our choices!" So she said she would take care of it. A few minutes later some Mexican guy, I assume he was the manager, comes back with the "corrected" bill and (get this) there is only a $2.00 adjustment! So $137.00 was adjusted to $135.00 So I said to him, "You only took $2.00 off" So he tells me the bill was originally $165.00 and he did adjust it!" So now I am mad and say to him..."do the math, how could it ever have been $165.00 there is only four of us getting the $20 special! And look at the bill, the desserts and coffee are still on there!" So he takes the bill back and changes it again....we get it and see its $105.00 now...so we just pay it and leave..but guess what!? We get home and look at it again HE STILL CHARGED US FOR 2 OF THE DESSERTS!! The unmitigated nerve of these people!!! I will never and mean NEVER go back there again! I truly believe this is an ongoing scheme and they probably make $100's of extra dollars a week doctoring customer's bills. People who are a little drunk and just hand their credit cards over. PLEASE CHECK YOUR BILL AT THIS PLACE, double and triple check... and DO NOT take for granted that once they "correct it" that it is in...

Went here for about 2 hours on a Sunday night. Made reservations a day in advance. I genuinely wish we would've went somewhere else.

The only good things going for this place are the location and the overall cleanliness. It's right on a main road, a few minutes away from route 3. The dining room seemed pretty clean and was modern.

Now for the not so positive things. First off, the server dropped my $29 bottle of wine after HE OFFERED to put in a tableside ice bucket for us. He apologized and offered to give us a discount on the bill. Fine I guess.

Appetizers were seriously underwhelming. The calamari was rubbery, soggy, and what they were passing as "Marinara sauce" tasted so processed and metallic. The salads had way too much of EVERYTHING on them, Parmesan overpowered every other flavor.

Main courses were just ok. Nothing I couldn't have gotten at the Olive Garden. I paid $20 for Linguine and Clams and was disappointed to find a mound of CANNED CLAM SAUCE and burnt garlic on the terribly over cooked pasta. The amount of salt was outrageous. There was a huge pool of liquid at the bottom of my bowl. The real, fresh clams (of which there were 5 or so) acted as a "garnish" of sorts instead of being the MAIN entree. So soggy and honestly disgusting! Another person in my party ordered the pasta pomodoro, which was very watery and extremely salty as well as being overcooked.

The whole system for specials and desserts was so confusing. The waiter had to list of 20 or so items for dessert. No menus apparently.

Overall it wasn't the best experience and I...
