First I should have taken a picture of the burrito. Shame on me. I had heard rumors that Yaya's breakfast burrito was amazing. As luck would have it I had the opportunity to try it today. The restaurant was super clean and inviting and the service was spot on in what you would expect a good restaurant to have. While all I ordered was a large coffee and that burrito, I hope this place is around for years to come.
Holy smokes the burrito was awesome. It came in a plane container that seemed it was made for the burrito, but here's what caught me off guard. I love lifting weights so when I pick something up I can usually tell about how much it weighs. This burrito felt like they put rocks in the container. If you've ever had a NY burrito that's what it felt like. It had heft to it. The girl/lady at the counter asked if I wanted the small or the larger one and I happily said the larger one. I'm telling you folks this burrito is only for the hungry heavy eater. I love that fully stuffed Thanksgiving belly and this made a late breakfast and early lunch for me today. All the meats were so flavorful, cheese was ample but what was over the top awesome was that the burrito shell it self was seasoned with something deliciously unexpected. Very satisfied customer here and hoping for another chance to stop by Yaya's...
Read moreI say with affection: Quality ingredients but no flavor.
While the proteins (beans and meat) were good quality they had absolutely no flavor and the blandness of the proteins masked out all other flavors in burrito. I do hate to say it, but the blandest burrito I've ever eaten.🥺
I am wondering if it was an accident someone forgot to season or if it is a health food approach?
Add just the slightest bit of salt and maybe some seasoning blend to the proteins and I give this place 5 stars.
Only other things that were rough: I could not hear the girl making my burrito. she also put substantially less toppings on than the other 2 people on the line. My burrito was very lazily rolled, was kind of folded and not closed all the way. We rerolled our burritos at our table.
Any chance of getting shredded cabbage for a topping and mango salsa? Can very easily make perfectly good mango salsa using frozen cubed mango. Just cut the cubes smaller and add in onions and jalapeño and salt and honey! Tastes amazing.
All of this said with love I hope so much the best for this place and you guys are...
Read moreLooking around the CB/NB area, I have had a really hard time finding anything remotely healthy. I am disheartened by all of the greasy fast food that we have, so I tried to be extra mindful trying to find something for my lunch. Settling on Yaya’s, I found the meal I got to be very competent.
I got a bowl (trying to cut down on carbs, sugar where I can), with carne asada, brown rice, grilled bell pepper and onion, cilantro, jalapeño, shredded cheese and a hint of sriracha and lime juice. None of the flavor profile really stuck out to me, but it was okay (not a fan of pico, I know, missing out - whatever). It sufficed! I was happy with the meal. I was turned off by their initial opening, but I will be back now.
Edit (Aug. 15th) - got the breakfast burrito with pulled pork, it was excellent. Wasn’t able to finish it. Would’ve been cool with more veggies, had lots of potato and cheese, but the pulled pork tasted so good nonetheless. The hot sauce bottle on my table was gross and needed to be...
