Worst service ever by the owner and who I assume was the manager based on actions. For reference, our sever Brittany was excellent!
I took my two sons to eat here this past weekend. it was about 7:30 and the hours said they were open until 9. Rather than telling me they were getting ready to close early, they allowed us to take a seat and order. At first they said they were out of pizza and calzones; not a problem, didn't want either of those. I ordered my my kids their meals (kids grilled cheese and 3 veggie plate of slaw, mac & cheese and fruit cup) and I order a toasted ham and swiss sandwich. the menu didn't specify what kind of bread it came on so I assumed either white bread or texas toast like any other sandwich and I was fine with those. When the food came out, my sandwich came on a toasted hamburger bun. I called over the manager because she was passing by, and inquired about that and she told me they were out all all bread except burger buns and sub rolls. Mind you, my son's grilled cheese was made correctly on white bread. when I pushed further about that she played dumb and offered to bring me out toast. When I asked if they were going to remake my sandwich on the toasted white bread she said no. When I said I didn't want the sandwich how it was she said fine and that they would remove it from the bill and just took my plate, did not offer to get me anything else. So I just sat there hungry while my kids finished their food. The owner then came out and tried to prove that I was wrong and that the menu clearly started the sandwich came on a burger bun. When I pointed it out on the menu that it did not, he proceeded to tell me that "in 7 years I am the first person to complain about getting a burger bun. That here in the South this is how sandwiches are made unless specified otherwise." and then said that they took it off the bill so everything was fine. He did not care that I clearly was not happy, still did not have any food, nor did he offer to get me anything else. It was obvious he was just trying to get us out of the restaurant. He then loudly went around to the both the manager and our server to tell them to make sure that they specifically ask what kind of bread when sandwiches are ordered. His tone with both myself and the employees was extremely condescending. We got our bill and went to pay, and of course the owner was at the register. our bill came to $17 and change. there was a misc. charge of $0.75 that I inquired about and he said it was the reduced charge for the fruit cup that my other son ordered which normally would be $5. Mind you I ordered the fruit cup as part of the 3 veggie plate. I was never told that it would be an extra $5. So he was going to charge me the full $7.50 for the veggie platter plus an additional $5 for the fruit cup. needless to say a kids grilled cheese meal, a small cup of COLD mac & cheese, slaw and a fruit cup cost $17. I did address the owner after I paid about his condescending attitude towards myself and his employees and the extremely unprofessional way he conducted himself and he cut me off saying all was fine because he removed my food from the bill and not every restaurant was for everyone so it was fine that he was losing a customer.
Clearly the owner does not care about his patrons and the experience. I have been around the food service industry most of my life whether I was serving or it was a family member, so I know and understand how things work. This all could have been avoided if they had just been upfront when we walked in that they were closing...
Read moreOn Nov. 23 I ordered breakfast and they gave me the wrong one. They took the plate back and brought me a new one 15 minutes later. The rest of the table was done eating so I had to take my breakfast home. In the afternoon my mom ordered a pepperoni and pineapple pizza for pick up. When it got home it was missing pineapple. On nov. 24 we called to inform them so they offered a free pizza. I picked it up, when I checked the pizza it had a curly facial hair cooked on it. I called and spoke with the "manager" Angela and she said the cooks have to shave their facial hair and wear hair nets but she offered a new pizza. If you sit near the kitchen doors at the restaurant you can see into the kitchen. You can see that the cooks do not wear hair nets. You can see that have facial hair. If you have previously worked at a restaurant you know that most of the time cooks do not wear the appropriate attire unless a health inspector is present. So the "manager" lied without any need. She was not present when I picked up my new pizza but at least it did not have hair. The service was better when Stefani was the manager. We miss you Stef. The lady in the register in the morning was not welcoming. She did not smile at all and the only words she said to me was about the tip. I will not be returning because if she is the face of the restaurant, imagine what the rest of the workers are like. I wish the owners the best. There are other options for food around.
Response to Owner: it is funny that you say Stephanie was not manager and I was not informed correctly because she did have all the duties of a manager. She did face the clients when the owners were busy. Something the new "manager" did not do when I picked up my food. At least the cashier isn't the face of the restaurant anymore because she just made...
Read moreTypical small area family restaurant with average food and large portions. The best bang for the buck is the popcorn shrimp and salt/pepper catfish. The new owner is Albanian, oversees every aspect of the operation and circulates with the customers. All of the waitstaff seem to like their work with the exception of the blonde with glasses that is usually at the register and does seating as well. She never smiles, very blunt and always has something negative to say. We used to eat here several times a week when it was Zowie's but only come about twice a month now because the food has changed and doesn't seem to be as good.
Response from the owner2 days ago Hello, I wanted to take a minute and apologize that you think the food was better before. We've heard nothing but good reviews about the food since the change over so hate to hear you don't agree. May I ask you if the employee you're referring to work during the day or at night? Also I hope you will return and maybe try something different food wise, maybe you'll change your mind. We strive to make sure each of our guests are happy with every aspect of their visit so hope you'll give us another shot . Thank you!
The female employee has short blondish hair and glasses, medium weight and usually operates the register. I don't know if she works days or nights but we sometimes eat @ your place 2-4 pm. As far as trying something different we've had most of what you offer and still think the food was slightly better with the previous owner. Adding pizza was a good and bad idea. Good because it's pretty good and bad because it takes about 30-40 minutes and most people don't want to...
