I've been here a couple of times & the food was always good but because of the hours & how busy it is I tend to feel rushed through my meal. I took my youngest twin daughters to eat because they are leaving town for a month. I wanted to take them out for a special breakfast with mom before they go to their dad's out of state. As someone who personally makes a living on tips, I understand that people make mistakes & have misunderstandings, but had she slowed down enough to repeat our order she would have been able to correct her mistake before putting the order in. One of my kids was trying to tell her thank you for their food, but she didn't acknowledge her & may not have even realized that the little girl was talking to her. My friend, who is diabetic, met us there to eat & ordered a sweet tea with half unsweetened. We weren't sure if she heard her say anything about the adding unsweetened to it because she just walked away. When she brought it back she never asked if it was ok. It was too sweet, but hey, no big deal, she asked for some water to add to it to make it less sweet. But we never saw the water & the food that was brought to me had extra onions instead of no onions. Not to mention she brought the check to us before out good even got to the table. They did remake my food & did not charge me for it & she did apologize. Unfortunately, by the time my remade order was in everyone else was pretty much done eating so I had to get mine to go. I don't have high expectations for the servers I encounter but the reason I choose to go to "hole in the wall" local places is because of the warm friendly atmosphere that majority of them have. This place did not make me feel that way. I'm not normally one to put a review out & put them on blast, but I was very disappointed with my most recent & probably last visit there. I get stiffed on tips all the time, so i did leave her something since she did make the effort to fix it & did not charge me for the order...
Read moreI want to do this fairly because the food was good, and our wait time for a table was reasonable. But let’s start with our waitress, I know they have a busy and demanding job as I also work in food service as a Culinary Director. When she came to the table we were greeted with I have people at the bar, what do you want to drink. Ok I see there are people there but we are there at a table where the patrons with the expectation of two have already eaten. Next we ordered our food I chose my favorite chicken and waffles and my guests ordered variations of eggs Benedict. As we wait for our food we chit chat but we noticed that my guests food has come up to to the window as well as my waffle (we assume they're waiting on the chicken). Well the eggs Benedict are a sensitive item to have sit in a window with heated lamps for any amount of time. Timing doesn’t seem to be a factor within the kitchen as the chicken that takes the longest to cook on our order was made last after the eggs Benedict, even after the waffle.
The plates were picked up and set down twice, then our waitress came to the table behind us filled their drinks and told us that the order was waiting of the chicken for the waffle. When the dishes came to the table to poached eggs were now at medium boil, their sides were cold. We mentioned this to the waitress and she had the kitchen just remakes the eggs, then it took her another 8mins to come back after we had the hostess get her attention. We asked to have the Benedict dishes remade, to which she walked to the swing door yelled to the cooks “Now these ladies want their entire dish remade.”
I find this behavior to unprofessional even though the waitress was busy no reason to be rude, as there are my different avenues that this can and should have been dealt with.
If there are any issues that anyone may have with this post please know that the food was good but the service was...
Read moreMy daughter and I tried this place for the first time ever. We were impressed. Based on their name, I expected a good breakfast and my expectations were met and exceeded.
Pros: A huge selection of breakfast menu items. Comfortable spacious booth seating. I did see tables & chairs for seating available too. The atmosphere reminded me of how restaurants looked back in the day, that small hometown feel. The customer service was excellent. The quality and quantity of the food was delicious. I felt the prices were affordable for the amount you get. Way better than other breakfast venues that charge a crazy amount for very little. The biggest plus for me was the hashbrown. It's the good ole fashioned shredded kind with a brown crunchy outer layer. The French toast was amazingly good. I loved the warmed up syrup they provided and the waitress said it was Mrs. Buttersworth! No wonder I loved it.
Cons: The waitress didn't have a name tag or say her name when greeting us but was very nice and did a great job. It would have been nice to give her a shout-out. My daughter ordered their breakfast potatoes and they did not taste good at all. Not sure if it's just personal taste or something was wrong but definitely prefer the traditional hash browns. Also, the old timey music was a little bit loud and annoying but my daughter pointed out that they may be catering to the senior crowd. Fair enough.
Overall, I would definitely return for another visit and plan to bring my Mama next time, I feel she will...
