Stopped by Lou's Kake Supply (formerly Kitchen Kake Magic), which has a new home further down Peter's Creek Parkway (Hwy 150) about 3 to 4 miles from its former location off Trademart Blvd. I needed some Royal Icing, LorAnn Peach & Coconut flavorings, piping bags, and tips. If you need cake making, candy making, or other sweet making supplies or help give this nice lady a call. The prices were reasonable, and selection was outstanding. The new owner (Ms. Roxanne) has renamed the business in honor of the former owner (Mrs. Lou) who started the business 50 + years ago on South Main Street in Winston Salem. I will always choose to buy local if possible, I hope you will too! Ms. Roxanne actually worked for Mrs. Lou but left to help her parents open a furniture store, and when Mrs. Lou decided to retire and sell her business she sold it to Ms. Roxanne, who merged it with the family furniture store for a one-stop, two venue outlet. They were out of one essential ingredient I needed, which was understandable based upon the time of year, but when I asked if they knew where I might find the ingredient I was told “ Oh, it’s completely sold out everywhere “ so I asked if they could recommend a substitute for the ingredient- “No, no idea.” I left the store and decided to try another store- they had the ingredient I was looking for and when I Googled a substitute for the ingredient, there were multiple substitutes.
