I should have read the reviews before ordering a cake because I am here to confirm many of the reports that have already been made. I too ordered a cake for a birthday. I ordered the Signature DQ Cake which has the description as so copy and pasted from the website:
"Irresistible fudge and crunch center surrounded by vanilla and chocolate soft serve, decorated with your favorite design"
After calling and making sure that my cake requests would be okay I went to the website to order a cake as you cannot do so over the phone and I am 30 minutes away so I wasn't going to drive there and do it in person.
I WISH I would have taken photos of the cake but didn't think that this would be an issue. My request for the cake was to change the vanilla ice cream to strawberry and include double fudge and crumble
We pick the cake up through the drive through and assume all is good, not inspecting what is in the bag before leaving, unfortunately.,
Got home, opened the cake to celebrate my child's birthday to discover his name wasn't even written yet it was on the receipt that they included with the cake when I left. Furthermore, we immediately notice it's vanilla and strawberry ice cream rather than chocolate and strawberry. Unfortunate, but the kids wanted some cake so had to continue. We cut into the cake to find that only the center of the cake (in the middle) was where the "fudge and crumble" was located but there was no fudge whatsoever and all crumble. It MOST definitely was not double as requested.
I gave the store a call and we had to go back and forth multiple times as they could not answer my questions without asking other people and then calling me back. She told that I was wrong about the description of the cake and there is NO CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM IN THE CAKE.
Refer back to the COPY AND PASTED DESCRIPTION from DQ Website:
"Irresistible fudge and crunch center surrounded by vanilla and chocolate soft serve, decorated with your favorite design"
Upon trying to explain that if I requested the VANILLA to be swapped with the STRAWBERRY ice cream one would assume you would be left with CHOCOLATE and STRAWBERRY ice cream with fudge and crumble between those layers.
The one I spoke with consistently stated I was wrong and there is no chocolate other than maybe some drizzle on top (minus any fudge). I asked how she would describe the cake and she didn't give me an answer other than to tell me that I was wrong about the cake and it was made properly.
Afterward, knowing they clearly don't know what a DQ cake is at the store, I gave the customer relations a call. They took note of the above issues and stated the owner of the store would get an alert and SHOULD be in touch at some point. It is officially one week since that call and no one has reached out from that store.
I am not looking for anything free, I simply would like an apology as the service that was paid for was done incorrectly.
A call from the owner would have been the most respectful outcome as it would only take a moment. It is not the end of the world, it is simply a birthday cake, but since no one reached out it becomes more of an issue that I did not receive what I PAID for. I am Real Estate Agent in the area and interact with many people. A phone call would have made the difference for me to give Denver DQ a positive or negative review and unfortunately a positive review is not one that...
Read moreWell I have tried 4 times to get something from here and have not. This place is awful I wish you could leave no stars. The 1st time I stopped no one knew how to work the drink machines, 2nd time I stood in line for over 10 minutes and it never moved no one behind the counter looked as if they knew what was going on, 3rd time went through the drive thru and tried to order a combo meal and the lady told me I could not order what I was wanting to order, and today I ordered a large orange Julius and got a medium but that’s what I was charged for so no biggie but it was not orange it was another flavor. Took it back in and they fixed me another and upsized it to a large and got back to the car and it was the same flavor I told them was wrong. What a big disappointment I really love DQ but do plan to go back to this one.
Well tried for some Blizzards tonight, when they handed them to me I asked which one was the special order and I was told that no one told them and they did not know. I started to pull out from the drive thru and the girl at the drive thru yelled and stopped me but I could not back up so I told her I would pull right around and I did and by the time I got around the building the blizzards was dripping from being half melted and sloppily put together with ice cream oozing out everywhere. I went in to get my card and was given a hard time over that and I asked Austin why they do not mark special orders and how am I to know which one is which and The not concerned answer was to pull the tops off and look he did not know what else to do. I took them home two miles up the road and poured most of the out as they were at least 1/3 liquid. I threw them out and went back and the owner was there, told him the story and was given a refund for the two blizzards. The owner seemed to care but the girl at the drive thru window had no personality and did not seem to care nor did Austin. I have learned never say never but I don’t see myself...
Read moreI had a birthday this past weekend and it’s a tradition in our family to get a Dairy Queen ice cream cake. It has been a tradition for nearly 30 years. Upon ordering the cake for pickup, I asked if I could have double the cookie & fudge filling in the middle. I was told yes, they do that and they will. Well, when it was time to cut into the cake that everyone was eagerly anticipating, not only was there not a double layer of anything, but between the two layers of ice cream was a layer of cookie crumbles and NO fudge. I was under the impression that the cookie and fudge layers are frozen together before they get put in the cake (I’ve seen them be made before) and wanted two of those layers. I was very clear about my order.
A female manager (on 8/26/23) was kind enough to remake the cake for us after I explained the problem. I asked her, and was even clearer this time, if I could please have a double layer of cookie and fudge filling. I said I’d like the cake to be vanilla, cookie, fudge, cookie, fudge, chocolate from top to bottom. Just like their cakes come in the freezer but with an ADDED layer of the cookie and fudge. She totally understood what I was saying and said she’d be happy to do that.
I picked up the cake today, two days AFTER this birthday event, so that we could all enjoy the cake we were waiting all year for, only for, you guessed it, the cake to not have a double layer of anything in it, IN FACT the layers we did get were UNUSUALLY thin!! As if they somehow halved it!? Like what is the damn miscommunication here??
I’m am thoroughly confused as I was very clear the entire time. If I’m going to spend $36 on an ice cream cake, I’d expect it to be done the way I was promised it would be. I live almost an hour away so to drive there at all, because we thought it be worth it, was a stretch and then to have to do it a second time only to be disappointed...
