K's NY Pizza & SoFlo Food — Restaurant in North Carolina

After being recommended to K's for New York Style pizza we looked at the website and made a plan to head over. When we arrived we were surprised to find that it was not a true "restaurant" but a "take out" place. In our view, this should have been made clear in their on-line presence. Yeah, there were some tables outside but at 30 degrees that was not an option. We placed our order and waited in our car for 25 minutes for our pizza. By the time we got home 20 minutes later, the crust was lukewarm and soggy (not really their fault as that is an expected consequence of take-out pizza) but the pizza itself was not what we expected. There was very little sauce and what there was did not have much flavor. We expect a good amount of sauce with prominent garlic and spice flavor. The cheese was good and plentiful (we ordered mushroom and extra cheese) and the mushrooms were also good. As such, we gave the experience 3 stars. The best pizza we have found so far (though not New York style), is at West First Wood Fired Pizza downtown. We stopped here on a day trip of apple picking from Columbia SC. I love supporting small businesses and love trying pizza places. When someone says they have NYC style pizza and I want to test this out. I love that style of pizza. The owners have ties to NYC. I know this because they took the time to come outside and talk to us. My wife picked out a white sauce pizza and a friend had the frita burger. Everything was great. The slices were big and the crust was amazing. I’m sure if I had gotten a cheese or pepperoni it would have been dripping in grease and I would have been able to curl it up and crush it. I’ll have to get that next time but I let my wife choose the pie.

The weather was perfect and so the outdoor seating was nice. It doesn’t look like there is seating inside so plan accordingly.

I’m from SC so I love my sweet tea. They only had canned cokes. We made due.

We found this gem while helping a friend move. We were craving pizza and K's NY Pizza & SoFlo Food popped up on our nav. It was a surprise as we expected to find it in a strip mall or large built. It's located in a quaint little house on the side of the road. The Pizza as AWESOME!

We ordered two cheese pizzas to go and visited with the owner while we waited. The atmosphere was great and offered a personalized experience. We chatted with a couple eating on the patio who said they were enjoying their excellent personal sized pizzas.

We found out that on the 3rd Tuesday of every month, they offer 100 free meals to those in need. Sometimes they visit homeless shelters, stop off at Salvation Army, or travel around the area. What great people! Can't wait to be back in Flat Rock so we can stop by again. We hope for many years of continued success!
