A girl on a journey to find the best soup broth!!!

I wasn’t feeling well over the weekend, and my husband happened to be in the area and picked up some wonton soup from this restaurant—our first time trying it. I have to say, if you’re looking for a soup with flavorful broth, this might be the place!

The broth in their chicken wonton soup was exceptional. Unlike many other Chinese and Thai restaurants in the Charleston and Summerville area, where the broth often tastes like plain chicken stock, this soup had a depth of flavor I can’t quite put my finger on—it felt like they added something special to it.

The soup was very affordable (around $3 for a small), and they were generous with the wontons. We ordered four smalls, and every container was packed with plenty of wontons.

THIS IS THE PLACE that you are looking for- don't let the no-frills look of the restaurant fool you! I'm not exaggerating when I say Peking Gourmet is the best Chinese take-out that I have ever had. Our food was so delicious and fresh. The vegetables in my fried rice had an unexpectedly incredible grilled flavor. The chicken in my wife's Chicken with Cashew was perfectly crispy, even the next day when reheated for leftovers. And the leftovers! The portions are so generous that you will have enough for later when you are craving more of this appetizing cuisine. I wonder if the proximity of Peking to the Asian Market has anything to do with the tastiness of their food? Whatever is is, they are doing it...

I had a favorite Chinese restaurant years ago. I moved away for 7 years and came back to see my favorite spot closed down. I’ve been home for a year and had bad luck with every Chinese restaurant I found. But this place!
