I am appalled by the owners response to my review, which blatantly shifts the blame for the poor service we received onto us as customers. This pattern of blaming patrons for their negative experiences, as seen in other reviews, is unacceptable and unprofessional.

Our experience at Nguyen’s was marked by an inexcusable delay in service, despite the restaurant not being busy. We waited over an hour for our food while other tables, which arrived after us, were served promptly. The service we received was subpar, and the quality of the food was equally disappointing.

It is clear from reading other reviews that there is a disturbing trend of minorities being treated differently at the establishment. The owners consistent practice of writing negative responses about minorities who dine at this restaurant further underscores a serious issue of bias and unfair treatment.

Instead of addressing the real concerns raised by multiple customers, the owner deflect responsibility, and or excuses about the restaurants staff. This is not acceptable. Every customer deserves to be treated with respect and provided with quality service, regardless of their background.

I stand by my review. The service at Nguyen’s was terrible, and the way the owner handles criticism only reinforces my decision to warn others about this restaurant. I urge potential diners to reconsider their choice and seek out establishments that value and respect all customers equally.

My Previous Post: I was excited to dine at Nguyen’s Kitchen and Sushi Bar in Fort Myers with my family after reading positive reviews. However, our experience was incredibly disappointing. Upon arriving, we were seated promptly and a server took our drink order. It took quite a while to receive our drinks, and we then placed our food order at the same.

The restaurant was not crowded; there was only one other party seated. During our wait, three other groups arrived, placed their orders, received their meals, and left, while we were still waiting for our meals. Over an hour passed without any communication from our server or any sign of our food. Water was only suggested to us only after complaints were made about the poor service. Food took more than an hour and fifteen minutes, although the three parties arriving after us had been served immediately.

The service was horrendous. When we finally decided to leave and pay for our drinks, our food suddenly appeared. The food itself was mediocre We know what good food tastes like, and this was far from it.

The manager eventually came over and apologized for the delay offering us complimentary desserts. As the only people of color in the restaurant at the time, it felt particularly disheartening to be treated so poorly while other tables were served promptly.

Overall, our experience at Nguyen’s was terrible. This place did not live up to the reviews. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

We make the food in order as it comes in, this party have ordered mixed drinks, wines, over 10 specialty sushi rolls plus entrees. We also have mentioned that it will take time to complete the order. Besides the customers who are dinning in, we do have takeout orders and delivery orders. Our manager had came over to apologize for the delay, gave explanations and offered complimentary desserts for the delay. Complimentary desserts were accepted. But after finishing the complimentary desserts and shouted out loud in the restaurant to write a bad review. This is a small family owned restaurant. I recently visited Nguyen’s Kitchen & Sushi Bar with a party of six and had an extremely disappointing experience (IT WAS HORRIBLE) Based on the reviews, I was excited to dine at this restaurant. Unfortunately, the service did not match the high expectations. We waited one hour after placing our order before our food arrived. To make matters worse, it took another 15 minutes before we were even offered water. During our long wait, we watched as four other parties who arrived after us were served, finished their meals, and left while we were still waiting. The staff showed a complete lack of attention and efficiency. This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a pleasant dining experience.

After posting my initial review I received this response from the owner : “So sorry for your bad experience. We got extremely busy during slow season and were understaffed. I recently did a takeout order at this restaurant. I was kind of on the fence about it based on its location but I still wanted to give it a try. I am so glad I did! Even though it was a takeout order the staff was incredibly welcoming. The food, oh my goodness, it was incredible. The sushi! It was an absolute delight. The freshness of the fish was unrivaled and each roll was meticulously crafted to perfection. The pad thai was honestly one of the best I've ever had. It had the perfect balance of flavors and the generous portion left us completely satisfied. One aspect about this restaurant that truly stands out is the value for the money. The portions are generous sizes making it an excellent option for those seeking quality food without breaking the bank. I also must mention that the atmosphere at this restaurant is a bit challenging due to its previous identity as a Perkins, but they've worked diligently to overcome that stigma and you will see their determination when you step through the door. Additionally, they have also created some outdoor seating with lights and lanterns and hopefully their efforts will pay off.
