Having never been to Gracy's, and having heard that it was a good place to go for breakfast now that Denny's and Black Bear Diner are no longer open, we decided to try this place out.
My experience was not especially positive. I will list out the issues that my family and I experienced, but to summarize, the establishment is uncomfortable both atmospherically and physically, it is outlandishly overpriced, and both the quantity of the food you get and the quality of the food is not worth either the aforementioned price or the time and patience spent waiting for it.
That being said, please note that one should never go anywhere in Logan on a holiday. We decided to try this place for the first (and now last) time on Father's Day 2025. Even still, knowing it would be busy, we decided to try somewhere new and had heard positive things about Gracy's.
Positives: The food was ok.
Negatives: Issue #1 - Parking: Upon arriving at the location, we could not find any parking due to the poor design of the parking lot and the amount of current customers. We had to circle the building three times in order to find a place.
Issue #2 - Wait Time: At the time we walked in the door, someone else was in front of us, and we waited 5 minutes before they were even able to get put on the wait list. They told the manager their party was for 3 people (same as us), and the manager told them it was a 15 minute wait. She agreed and her party proceeded to go to the lobby (see issue #3) to wait. We were told that it was a 25 minute wait, which we begrudgingly accepted. We waited 30 minutes just to be sat down inside the building.
Issue #3 - Waiting Area: Gracy's "waiting area" is a hard bench in an un-air-conditioned 8'x8' entryway. At 11 am, it was already ~90°, making this a veritable hotbox full of people. They have tried to compensate for this by setting up makeshift waiting areas outside. It was uncomfortable and only little better than being outside.
Issue #4 - Service Quality: Again, I fully understand that we visited while it was busy on a holiday, but this place is NOT equipped for that kind of volume. The service was very poor. After a half hour wait, we waited another 15 minutes just for a waitress to ask us if we had been helped. There is very little organization here, and the place is obviously very understaffed in the front of the house. After ordering (now at nearly an hour of waiting), we waited ANOTHER 30 minutes just to get our food. The waitresses and cook staff did not seem to be acting with any urgency whatsoever.
Issues # 5 & 6 - Food Quality and Overall Price: Though it is surely rough running a business in today's economic climate, especially in the food industry, nearly everything on the menu here is 15$ or more for what is really about 4$ worth of food.
I ordered the bacon and eggs with pancakes, my wife ordered the waffle combo (waffle with eggs and bacon on the side), and my son ordered the strawberry banana waffle (which did not come with anything else).
If I'm paying 15$ for each meal ($50 for the three of us, even after we each only got water due to the ridiculous price of other drinks), the food quality should be excellent and the amount of food that I receive should be generous. Neither was the case. The eggs used are medium sized in an obvious effort to cut costs, the bacon is the overly salted deli thickness that is found when buying the cheapest thing you can find at a bulk shopping center, and the pancakes were comically small and tasteless, as was the maple syrup. I placed silverware next to the pancake for size comparison in the photo that I took of my order. My wife and son were nonplused and rented that the waffles tasted similar to ones found at budget hotels as part of a self-service breakfast.
While I am sorry to say it, overall, it felt wasteful to spend money on the food here. We will not be going back and would certainly not recommend it to anyone who likes good...
Read moreMy wife took me here on my birthday for lunch, and we both regret it. A waste of $42, and our time.
We waited in line for about an hour before we were seated. Instead of having a digital system that tells the staff what tables were available/taken, or even a simple paper to show this, the owner of the restaurant just walked around the premises until he spotted an empty table for us right next to the kitchen. We sat there for about 20 minutes before a waitress even noticed us, and took our drink orders. We then waited for another solid 5 minutes for our drinks to arrive, and for our orders to be taken. My wife ordered a simple chicken sandwich, and I ordered some chocolate chip pancakes. We then proceeded to wait another 40 minutes for our lackluster meal to arrive, meanwhile other tables had arrived, and left within the time period of us sitting at our table, wondering why it was taking so long. When our waitress finally arrived with our food, she proceeded to tell explain how the restaurant had ran out of clean silverware, and she used this as an excuse for why our food took forever to come out. My pancakes were clearly the yucky premix stuff from Walmart, and were topped with store bought Hershey's chocolate syrup. They were gross. I couldn't even finish half of the plate before my stomach told me to stop, or I would get sick. My wife got a simple chicken sandwich with some condiments removed. All of the condiments she didn't want were on the sandwich, and she only ate a little of it, she said it was nasty (My wife is not a picky eater, so when she says its nasty, its NASTY. She even got food poisoning from it, and got sick when we got home.)
At this point, we just wanted to get the check, and go home, so we asked for the check, and we waited.....for another 20 minutes for them to bring it to us. During this time, I could see the workers (including our waitress) playing on their phones, and wasting our time. At this point, I had to use the restroom, and in the couple minutes I was gone, the waitress came by with our check, and had my wife pay for our meal. She purposefully stared at my wife while she was paying for the food, and clearly was pushing her to add a heavy tip, when it was not deserved. After this, the waitress left, the owner came by and asked my wife how the food was. And when she said the food was ok, the owner got very defensive. The owner is a sizable man, and tried to use scare tactics against my smaller wife to try and get a more appealing opinion on the food from her. He used his size, and loud voice against my wife to manipulate her into just saying that just her fries were undercooked (This is true, but the whole meal was disgusting) By the time I had returned from the bathroom, he had finished cornering her about the food, and left. My wife was nearly in tears from his disrespect.
And to finish all of this off, my wife is in a foodies group on Facebook, and apparently the owner of Gracy's is too, and when my wife had asked suggestions on where to go eat for my birthday, this man had suggested his own restaurant, knowing full well that the food, and service he provides are awful! Shoutout to Brian Wills! You made my wife cry, gave her food poisoning, and ruined my birthday lunch!
We will be spreading the word on how...
Read moreMy family and I went to this place for the first time this morning. Heard a lot of good things so we were excited to try! We waited over 30 minutes for our food after ordering (which is fine because it was a little busy) when our food came out everything looked delicious. My fiancé got the chicken fried steak and he was unimpressed. The gravy was too thick and flavorless and the potatoes (menu said hashbrowns) were over cooked, nearly burned, on some places and under cooked on others. I got the chilaquiles and they were delicious. I asked for my eggs over medium and it wasn’t until I was halfway done with my meal I realized the egg whites were slimey and some parts of the eggs were very undercooked. I thought it was cheese at first 🤮 my son got the chocolate chip pancakes with 2 pieces of bacon. He enjoyed his meal. We were pretty disappointed but figured lesson learned we probably wouldn’t come back. We didn’t tell the waitress any of our concerns because we don’t like to complain we just figured, like I said before, lesson learned. I’m writing this review because we paid 75 and some change for our food! 75!!!!!! I was shocked!! That’s when I got a little upset because it’s not always my family and I get to go out and get a meal together so the few times we get to we expect to get a good meal and time together. I did get a coffee and my son got a hot chocolate as well. We ended up paying 93 in total because the tip was an automatic button and we felt rushed to get outta there. If the food was perfect and the atmosphere was better I wouldn’t mind paying so much. I was shocked and disappointed. Definitely won’t...
