Used to come here for the 2 huge freshly made from scratch biscuits that came with my breakfast plate. After being away for a time, I stopped in and ordered my usual breakfast. The food came out and there sat 1 lonely little biscuit. I asked what happened to the 2nd biscuit and was told I could have a 2nd biscuit but I'd be charged extra for it. And they are no longer hand made in the restaurant. After tasting the biscuit I didn't really care to have a 2nd one. I can get bacon and eggs anywhere but homemade biscuits are not to be found. Not having them anymore really killed my interest to come here. The diner is dated even with the new paint job and the staff has always been so-so and helped to know which waitress to ask for. For whoever is running the place now, you lost a reliable customer and all over the cost of a single biscuit and it not being homemade like its been for the last 25 years. Poor business decision. UPDATE 9/27/25-- After seeing a Dirty Dining report maybe 2 years ago about dead rats and cooking utensils in soak with mold growing on top of the water I swore I'd never go back. Well, today I did. Truly hoping for a positive experience. Place looked overall clean. Ordered grits, eggs scrambled easy, toast and bacon. I sat for so long I finally told the server I was about to leave. She apologized and said a large order came in just before me and she went to the pickup window. Here comes a huge oval plate awash with runny grits and my easy egg scramble had been scorched across the top. I really tried to eat but it was too disgusting. I'd removed the bacon which had soaked in the grits to the plate with my toast. I pushed the large platter to the side and pulled the toast and bacon close. I began eating the bacon, looked down at the toast and it was being swarmed with fruit flies. I didn't take another bite. I got up and went to the register and complained to my server and told her the food was disgusting and that she'd seen how much I didn't eat. She said I'd sat near the soda dispensers and the fruit flies love the syrup and they are hard to control this time of year. I told I'd not be back yet she promised me a better experience next visit. She still charged me full price for the burned eggs and grits water. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. This used to be a reliable place for a great meal but sadly no more. I see recent good reviews, where are you people eating??? My advice-- avoid this place unless you really enjoy getting a food born...
Read moreUsed to be a fan a few months ago but each time I eat here I begin to notice it’s not so great. Sat next to the kitchen and saw one of the elderly waitresses with short blonde hair eating off of a plate which was to be delivered but I guess she was hungry waiting for the rest of the order to be handed to her so she picked at the fries in front of her. Yesterday I took my sons for brunch and the waitress serving us (younger compared to the other ones) kept rolling her eyes when she came to our table. My sons wanted to add on food to their order. They are 10 and 14 years old and they can eat. Needless to say, they finished their omelettes, biscuits, bacon, house potatoes, pancakes AND MINE! Their food is good.
With regards to the upkeep, the wall paper is coming off of the walls. The booths are losing the stability on the seats. They sink towards the center of the seats and the floors are grimy.
The only reason I gave it a two stars is because the customers are great. You can tell they made a tradition coming here and have made me feel a part of the neighborhood I moved into. The diversity in cultures is amazing. They need to up their customer service and cleanliness to keep this...
Read moreI went to the diner today. My wife had knee surgery two weeks ago and this was her first “field trip” after a physical therapy evaluation appointment. Im a comfort food guy and after both of us debating restaurants we chose jimmys. Seeing my wife on crutches they could t have been nicer. They asked us what tables or booths would be more comfortable, the first was t great for us so they gave us a six person booth for the two of us, so sweet, so “anything we can do, please tell us”. My wife ordered a burger and I ordered the lamb shank. They had to check if it was available, because it’s a slow cooked item and sells out regularly. They did have it and I can’t express how happy I am that they did. It’s delicious. Not good, delicious. I’m 57 years old and an ex restaurant cook. This was delicious. The sauce I could old bathe in. The only way I can express how much I liked is is say, after I finished this HUGE portion, I ordered two more to go. One for me later, one for a friend who is healing from surgery. I have never ordered two more of anything to take home in my life. Eat here. Great...
