I recently visited LaKay Food Spot with coworkers, drawn in by the appealing pictures online. However, our experience was a letdown from the start. When I called ahead, the staff couldn't tell me what was on the menu, which was a red flag.

Upon arrival, we struggled to find parking, having to park across the street. Inside, there was no host to greet us, and the menu was limited. Although the food is made fresh, the wait was long, and the atmosphere was chaotic. My coworker nearly slipped on the slick floor, and our table was dirty.

To make matters worse, we witnessed a loud argument between employees, which wasn't exactly subtle. When our food arrived, the presentation was impressive, but the portions were small, and the prices were steep. Unfortunately, my meatballs were undercooked, and I was charged extra for a side of pikliz.

For $53, we expected more food and better service. The attitude from the staff didn't help. Needless to say, we won't be returning. Perhaps the owners can work on improving their customer service, ambiance, and food quality to match the appealing...

I ordered the Kabrit (fried goat), which is listed on the menu as being served with Lakay rice, plantain, salad, and pikliz. When my food arrived, I noticed the rice was missing. I brought it to the server’s attention, and she returned with a serving of rice but I was charged extra for it.

When I tried to explain that rice was supposed to be included with my meal, the server became frustrated and told me she only speaks Portuguese and Spanish. At that point, I chose to just pay and leave, especially since she already seemed to have an attitude when we arrived. On top of that, the card reader wasn’t working, and when we had to switch payment methods, she sucked her teeth in frustration.

If the menu says a dish comes with certain items, customers should receive exactly what’s described without having to argue or pay extra. And even if there’s a language barrier, tools like Google Translate are easily available. I strongly suggest management considers better staff training or new servers to improve...

I love the food but the customer service sucks, everytime I place a order over the phone they would give me a time limit and when I get there it's never ready. Instead of apologizing the ladies would make excuses or argue. When answering the phone they also have attitudes and are not very welcoming. There is one lady that always has an attitude and I had to curse her out the other day the place is great the guy that works there is awesome but they need to know how to speak to customers and have a system in place for orders placed over the phone. The new lady always makes excuses oh I wasn't the one that took the order or the lady that took the order is gone but ok what does that mean very un professional. I am ordering 3-4 a week and just hate to wait sometimes but still I get there after ordering ahead and 20-30 mins later I'm waiting another 20 mins or more with no apology or...

Shazam!!!!! On a late Sunday night when every Haitian food spot is closed, Lakay was my saving grace. It was an unexpected find down Dixie Hwy...A food truck next to a car wash. The food was amazing. Everything was well seasoned, juicy, and well portioned. The patties were served with meat gravy at the bottom. Yum!!!!!! The chicken? Oh my God!!!!😋😋 The bullet? What the heck? Seriously, what are you guys doing in that kitchen? It was moist, juicy, and just pure deliciousness. The tassot kabrit(goat)? I'm done. Just finger licking good. The meat was so suculent I forgot I was eating goat. Seroisly, just do yourself a favor and go try the food. You will be in for an experience. You can taste the passion and love in every morsel. Enjoy!!!!🙂😎 By the way, great customer service.

If I could give this place ZERO stars I would!! Me and my husband drove from Fort Myers to Miami just to try this place and I must say that was the worst haitian food ever, and super pricy, not enough food. WE ORDERED 2 fish, both fish were OLD, a couple days old, 1 scoop of rice with 3 plantains. Not worth $82. The fish was BLACK when we cut it!! Couldn’t eat inside or outdoor cause bugs flying everywhere. UGHHH, worst experience ever.
