China Palace — Restaurant in North Port

After moving down to FL from Dirty Jersey, we were craving some Chinese food. After doing yet another Yelp search, China Palace came into view. I wasn't sure what to expect. We walked in, and looked at the extensive menu. Quite a lot of choices, it took me a minute to decide what to get.

I ordered the Shrimp & Mixed Vegetable with white rice and the husband ordered his Sesame Chicken. The food was ready about ten minutes later. Chicken was crispy and fabulous, much better than our usual place back up north. The Shrimp & mixed veggies was tasty as can be. Only one issue, the Sesame chicken had NO sesames on it?!?!? My issue was that. The location was clean. The employees weren't friendly but I have never really had an experience at a Chinese take out place when they were so that isn't a problem for me.

I've been going here for over a decade. Yesterday, I called the number from Google and placed an order. 5 mins later I was called back by a 713 area code saying the restaurant was requesting a credit card before they would start making the food. I declined and said I'll order at the restaurant. She sounded disappointed. I get to the restaurant and ask if that was true and they said no. He confirmed I called the right number. And said it hasn't happened to anyone else. My friend in cyber security said it's possible the call got intercepted from someone at the restaurant. So just beware. I called back again to see if the same "3rd" party would answer. I noticed I high pitch tone in the beginning of the call. I hung up, and the 713 area code called again asking if I'd like to...

They used to be good but lately their food has gone down hill. Portions have gotten smaller & price has risen. Last few times I orderwd from here the food was over cooked or dried out. Stayed away for about 2 yrs & it hasn't changed. My chicken looked so tasty but was dried out, my dumplings were burnt but were tasty. Turn down the heat some, don't mind waiting for quality tasting food. I could only eat half of it, gave the rest to my dog. For about 20 bucks you'd think the food would be somewhat worth it, like it was yrs ago. Very pleasant guy at counter though.
