Waffle House — Restaurant in North Port

I’ve been a lot of different places in our country. I’ve worked at different restaurants as well. Seen a lot of different establishments during busy hours and not once have seen Something like you have here with your team at this location. I came with my two children 9 & 7. Every single customer was greeted as they were walking in the door. It was hot today but we were asked to step outside - not a big deal as long as we had some water - Chamara came right out with water. It was extremely busy. It barely took the 10 mins we were quoted and offered a seat at the high table in front of the grill. Our server Lizzie was so personable. She was great with the kids and all the customers - I felt like the slogan from the Olive Garden - “when you’re here you’re family “ Everyone knew the regulars and treated them as celebrities.

Keep it mind - this was a busy Sunday. The machine was so well oiled. The way they worked together was astonishing. They were having fun and keeping every single customer happy. This was so beautiful to see.

It’s probably because there are mostly women on the team but it was so great to see many different types of people/personalities coming together to accomplish one thing - serving your guests and making them happy!

Came in to use a birthday coupon for a free waffle with purchase(used to be just free). My wife and I's birthdays are two weeks apart so we usually make it a date. They require a printed version of the emailed coupon so we printed ours out with our respective names on one sheet of paper. Upon arrival we checked if they would let us take them to go as the coupon states "dine-in only" and the server initially said yes very confidently. They implied we had to buy a breakfast of some value though the coupon clearly states "any purchase" so they asked the manager. She came back saying "dine-in only, and you can only use one coupon" very smugly. We asked if we could run separate checks and she got a rude smirk on her face when she repeated what she said more frantically this time. We walked out. We won't be returning to this location, never have I been treated so rudely by waffle house staff before. First time there since opening. Definitely some food quality issues. Might be the rush of call in orders due to Covid but we ate there. Waffles are taken out as soon at the beeper goes off, not totally cooked all the way, soft and doughy. I ordered my hash browns Smothered and covered (onions and cheese) and when it came, they were plain. I advised our server of it and she said “ok simple fix” I watched as my hash browns got thrown back on the flat grill with fresh chopped onions and not even given time to sauté. Literally 2 mins go by and they come back on same plate with still pretty much chopped up raw onion on bottom and a slap of yellow sliced cheese on top that I could still pick up as a slice and it was not even melted. The bacon was hard and flat as a river rock like it sat under a flat weight until it hit the plate and has the texture of biting into a kettle cooked chip.
