Beware! If and when you decide to admit your loved one to the Memory Care Unit please read the fine print in the contract you sign. I admitted my husband, who had Alzheimer's, on July 28, 2023. At that time he was walking without assistance. On September 10,2023 he fell fracturing his left hip. He was taken by ambulance to the ER in North Port which later transferred him to Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota for hip surgery. He never recovered from the surgery and passed away in Hospice on September 27, 2023. On September 12, 2023 I notified Kathy Tyler that he would not be returning to the memory unit. Had he survived the surgery I was preparing to bring him home. When I requested a refund for the days he was not in the unit Ms. Tyler told me in the contract I signed that there is a 30 day notice required to remove a loved one from the unit and no refund would be made. How was I to know on August 10, 2023 that my husband would fall requiring him to leave the unit by ambulance? Then two days before my husband passed away in Hospice Ms. Tyler kindly notified me that I was not responsible for the days between September 12, 2023 when I notified he would not returning to the unit and October 12, 2023 which would be the 30 days required notification. Those 10 days would have cost $236.50/day or $2,365.00. If you decide to place your loved one in their care have this clause removed from the contract. Ms. Tyler verbally told me I could remove my husband anytime I decided. This she now denies. I should have got that in writing. Placing a loved one in the care of someone else is so emotionally devastating 'that you don't always hear the 'fine print' message. Again, BEWARE! Since I posted this review I received a call from Ms. Tyler stating that upon review Corporate has determined that I should receive credit for the two weeks that my husband was not in the facility. I appreciate this because when my husband was in the rehab unit I was hiring private duty nurses to sit with him from 11 pm until 7 am. The rehab facility is not staffed to watch Alzheimer's patient closely. He fell out of be 5 times before I could get the private duty nurses hired. I was very pleased with the care and attention that my husband received the time he lived at The Gallery. Dana and the staff in the Memory Care Unit care about the residents. My husband was doing well there, we had established a routine that worked for us. I spent every day there having dinner with him . The food was delicious and certainly wholesome. I would not hesitate to return him to The Gallery had the surgery and rehab gone well. Activities at The Gallery are geared to the ability and desire of the residents. My husband and I especially enjoyed and looked forward to, happy hour every Friday afternoon. Drinks, appetizers and live music make it special. The Gallery is a beautiful, very functional 'home away from home' for loved ones who...
Read moreMy Dad has been an Assisted Living Resident at the Gallery for nearly a year. He is in a wheelchair full-time and needs a lot of assistance with daily routines. He loves the Gallery. The food, the environment, the staff - all fabulous. His apartment is spacious and beautiful. As a family member that visits him frequently, usually 2 - 3 times a week, I also love the people, the other residents, the staff, and yes - THE FOOD! We enjoy having lunch together out on the screened-in terrace. It is absolutely lovely. Ordering from a menu is such a treat. Desserts are homemade and irresistible. We also enjoy sitting outside by the pool. When family visits from out of town, they are welcome to dine with Dad - kids, adults, and everyone in between. He loves to give tours of the grounds and the gorgeous decor in the variety of attractive inside spaces. He enjoys plenty of activities - yesterday's Valentine's day party out by the pool was upbeat, creative, and fun. The staff that runs the activities are incredible. When I stopped by to have lunch with Dad on my birthday recently, I was serenaded and given birthday treats - the staff does treat us like family. A closing word about Dad's nurses and caregivers. They are friendly and professional. Dad needs quite a bit of assistance. He loves how careful and thorough his caregivers are. We all know each other and enjoy sharing stories about family and what is happening in daily life. Dad lived in a different AL facility before the Gallery. The first AL facility was fine, and their care was terrific. But the Gallery has SO MUCH MORE, and Dad doesn't just tolerate it - he thrives there. I used to leave Dad's first facility feeling a bit depressed. Not so at the Gallery. I come and go...
Read moreWhen I began the search to find my parents an independent living community, one that they are able to thrive in, I quickly realized that I did not need to look any further than, The Gallery at North Port! We were immediately greeted by a most friendly staff, in the newest and most spacious facility, with modern decor, in North Port, Florida! Alice and Maddie, from sales, we’re so warm and friendly and helpful, showing us around and telling us about everything my parents will have available to them. They were very informative, and was very patient with all the questions that my parents had to have answered, in order to put them at ease! Barbara, the Executive Director, had their best interest at heart with the terms, and got them in to their choice of villa, that was move in ready! My parents are so happy with their large, spacious, modern villa, with beautifully kept landscaping!
