Chicken = very good. Others = hit/miss. Service = meh.
We get 1 item every time, which we love: 24 piece (Large) Honey Garlic Boneless Chicken
Note: The sauces change based on the individual chef who makes it, which we find charming, but it can be a bit stressful for people who want consistency. The Honey Garlic can be nice & sweet one week ---- and then quite tangy/spicy the next week. We find this interesting, but for spicier sauces, I imagine it might pose a problem!
Why we get this item: The chicken is ALWAYS juicy, and the crunch is ALWAYS great, which is why we frequently order this particular 1 item + then combine with our own rice + kimchi + pickled radish at home.
There are 2 items we sometimes get: So Dduk So Dduk = very cute & tasty, like carnival food, but the sauces have the same issue as the chicken ---- they vary a lot, which we find fun, but it can be odd, especially if you want spicy Chicken Bulgogi Poutine = this is A LOT and we find it very good, it can be messy and intense
We have tried these 7 items & won't order again: Original Golden Olive Chicken = very plain... almost pointless Bulgogi Rice Bowl = usually nice, but ultimately a bit flavorless, a little too sweet Kimchi Fried Rice = good-ish, but not worth the price Steam Rice = we just wanted to see what they'd give us, and please never order this, it's pitiful Fried Dumpling = another "what is their version" order for us, and it's... fine... you probably shouldn't order this Cheese Stick = another "what is their version" order for us, and haha... no Sweet Potato Fries = yep, it's what it says, not worth it
Service vs. To-Go: We ate once inside the restaurant, and it was a very sad experience due to service & decor. The to-go/takeout option is perfect: simple and easy. We always call in advance & park...
Read moreI usually don’t write horrible reviews… but this one made me upset. I arrived at exactly 8:30pm. Doors were locked. (Store hours posted online and on the door says until 9:00pm) I knocked (because doors were LOCKED) and a lady unlocked the doors and said they were closed and that I can’t place an order for takeout because the “kitchen is closed”. Mind you there is an OPEN light sign on still. I was confused because I have never been at a restaurant where kitchen closes 30 minutes early..etc especially a fast food chain? So I asked her, why are you guys open until 9pm then? It says it online and on the door. She made an excuse saying that I have to place an order at 8pm, an hour before the store basically closes, and that I have to dine at 8pm…
I just wanted to order for takeout… Again… I am confused because I can still ORDER ONLINE FOR THAT LOCATION 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO CLOSING!
Please. If kitchen closes 30-45minutes BEFORE CLOSING, PUT THAT SIGN INFRONT OF YOUR DOOR OR ONLINE.
I have been to OTHER B.b.q chicken locations and have NEVER experienced this. I ended up driving to the Layhill location (closer to my house, and I went to the Traville location because it’s close to my job so I went after work) and I got my food still :) I asked the manager about the kitchen hours and the latest I can usually order, and he said at least 10 minutes before closing LIKE MOST FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS!
Again. Put a sign up stating that I have to dine at 8pm an hour before closing if I want to order my food. Unacceptable. If yall lazy just say that! There is no reason that you should be closing wrapping up the store a whole hour...
Read moreGreat korean fried chicken! BBQ Chicken is a popular korean fried chicken chain in Korea. I tried it for the first time in Korea, and it was the top things I missed. When I heard authentic korean fried chicken was going to be near me, I was excited to try it out! We went just before the dinner rush. The inside is nice, clean, and well furnished, with multiple TVs for those who want to watch sports or the news, and there is a complete bar inside. The staff is courteous, and they checked once in a while for any drink refills and anything else we needed. The only downside to my visit was that the waiting time for the chicken was a bit longer than I expected (20min). However, this is completely understandable because their takeout service was completely flooded. We ordered 1 whole 황금오리브치킨 (golden olive chicken) and 떡볶이 (dduk bokki). When the chicken arrived, it was crispy outside, and steaming hot inside. You can tell it was really freshly made, none of that Popeyes sitting under the heat lamp dryness. I personally like this chain’s chicken because it’s not too salty like a lot of American fried chicken. The meat inside doesn’t have that “bloodiness” and it’s very juicy. It’s not too greasy, yet the skin is very crispy and well seasoned. The 떡볶이 was good as well! It was definitely on the spicier side, but that’s how I personally like it. However, I would caution those who can’t handle spicy foods. Overall, great authentic non-marinated korean fried chicken. I’m really glad that a place in Montgomery county opened, because prior, the only good non-marinated korean fried chicken place was...
