From the moment we walked into Coconut Charlie’s at the DoubleTree Hotel in North Redington Beach, we knew we were in for something special. We arrived as a party of six, about 1 hour and 15 minutes before closing, fully expecting the usual “late guest” vibes. Instead, we were greeted by Cheryl at the host stand, who welcomed us with a warm smile and zero hesitation. She made us feel like we were right on time, and that set the tone for the night. Now, let’s talk about Mikey — our server and the true star of the evening. Mikey went above and beyond in every possible way. From the moment he introduced himself, he was friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly attentive. He never made us feel rushed (despite the late hour), and instead, he took the time to walk us through the menu, answer every question with genuine enthusiasm, and offer great recommendations. His professionalism was matched only by his authentic personality — funny, kind, and sharp. You could tell he really cared about making sure we had a great experience. He checked on us regularly without hovering, ensured every special request was handled perfectly, and treated us like VIPs from start to finish. The kind of service Mikey provided is rare — the kind that turns a good meal into a memorable experience. If I could rate Mikey 10 stars, I absolutely would. The food? Delicious! Every dish we ordered came out fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. But as great as the food was, it was Mikey's outstanding service that made this visit truly exceptional. To the management at Coconut Charlie’s: Mikey is a gem. Recognize him, reward him, and do everything you can to keep him — he’s the reason we’ll be back. Highly recommend this spot, especially if you’re lucky enough to have Mikey as your server. Thank you to the entire team for making our evening so enjoyable! We have eaten several times here and Mikey’s service was...

When I decided to stay at the DoubleTree I knew I'd probably have a few meals at Coconut Charlie's, I had no idea I would have nearly all of my meals here and without much complaint either!

Every meal I had was good, some were even great. Service, with the exception of one meal was always fast and friendly, it didn't matter if I was dining in or getting my order to go. Even the morning that it was on the slower side I feel like they must have been short staffed or something going on in the kitchen, it wasn't anything major and with the view of the Gulf to keep me company I could hardly complain.

I felt like the prices were reasonable for a hotel restaurant on the beach, and portion sizes were good.

I had breakfast multiple times (including the weekend buffet), the Cuban sandwich, Cobb salad (with added steak),Turkey Club, Cajun Pasta, Pesto Chicken and the Build Your Own Flatbread. The only thing I wouldn't get again is the breakfast buffet because the sausage is much better when you order it off the menu. If it were the same sausage on the buffet I would probably eat my weight in it. LOL

The staff at the restaurant was really top notch too. They remembered me and made conversation, I cannot tell you how good that made me feel.

The atmosphere also can't be beat. If you are dining inside you have a cool and comfortable setting, and if you are outside you are either on the covered patio, or down below on the deck under a shady umbrella. No matter where you are seated you have the beautiful view of The Gulf.

I would not hesitate to eat here again when I'm in the area, even if I'm not staying at this resort. Highly...

I was looking for a nice restaurant in Madeira Beach to celebrate my mom’s birthday. Since she loves seafood, live music, and an ocean view, I chose Coconut Charlie’s.

We arrived on a Friday evening and easily found parking in the DoubleTree Beach Resort lot. Their patio construction was finished, so we were able to sit right by the rail overlooking the beach. A beautiful setting to watch the sunset and later the full moon.

We started with the coconut shrimp, which were delicious. Unfortunately, the blackened mahi mahi entrée was disappointing. I had asked for it to be cooked medium so the texture would be softer for my mom to chew, but it came out well-done and tough. The coconut rice also was undercooked and lacked the flavor we were hoping for. On the positive side, our server Marty was very kind and gave us complimentary drinks after we shared our feedback. I tried the Mermaid Water (not as strong as I expected), while my mom enjoyed her frozen pink colada.

A couple of downsides: the restaurant doesn’t offer complimentary birthday desserts, and there was no live music on Friday evening as we had anticipated.

Overall, Coconut Charlie’s has a fantastic location with great views, but the food and experience didn’t quite live up to expectations for a special...

Went on the opening day so giving them some slack because they are still working things out. We are locals and we were super excited to finally have something different than Mangos (which was just blah). They did a great job at renovating, it has a new fresh beachy vibe that I love. Having said that, menu looked very similar to Mangos and food tasted average at best. Regular beach fare with not much flavor. We had high hopes of a better restaurant where we could get nice seafood options and more variety. Would love to see fresh fish, variety of burgers, even a good chicken sandwich. Bang bang shrimp came out looking grey and tasted undercooked (around $16). Chicken pasta at a whooping $23 was definitely overpriced. Cuban sandwich ($15) was same average as they had at Mangos. Cocktails $14, so so. It all comes back to the view, it is gorgeous and earned an extra star on my review. I don't see us visiting often until food improves. We live right across and would love a GH/ locals discount. Our crew would be there all the time if they had better food and the discount. Most people there today were from GH and all said the same thing.

We had lunch at this beach bar and grill located in the Doubletree during a recent stay. If you’re looking for a beautiful beachside restaurant directly on the beach, then this is the place to go. With great weather and shaded umbrellas on the patio (with plenty of outdoor seating), it was a perfect setting. Prices were typical of the location on the beach in a hotel - pricier than usual, but not overly priced. The food was good too - we ordered a fresh catch sandwich (salmon), coconut shrimp and fish and chips. We had no complaints about any of the food, and they were prepared well. Our waitress was also great in that she was friendly and nice. Our only complaint is that there was a bit of a wait for everything, from getting drinks to getting our food and getting refills. The place wasn’t too busy either, so just be prepared to wait and be patient. Overall, we had a great experience and would be back!
