The first time I went, it was a great experience! I fell in love with the burgers and truffle fries, and our waitress was great! The second time, we had an overall bad experience. Now, let me say that this place usually has a racist feel. As an Asian American, I feel all eyes on me (from other customers and staff) the instant I walk in along with my Asian family members. Besides the point, me and my sister believe to have received bad service with underlying racism. My story: our waitress completely FORGOT about serving our table, checking in on us, and giving us the bill. We waited 10 mins after finishing our food before we had to walk in (we were seated outside) and ask the host/bartender for our bill. And no, it was not busy AT ALL. Me and my fully Asian boyfriend were just sitting there as the other white families happliy walked on out. We agreed to tip them $2, even though I suggested $0. My sisters story: it was a busy day and the host said there wouldn’t be an open table until 20 minutes. So my sister and her boyfriend told the host to text them once a table is open. They waited in their car for half an hour and decided to check inside—to find completely open tables. Mind you, my sister and her boyfriend both saw a bunch of white people walking in(and not coming out), meaning they completely just did not tell my sister to come back in and decided to SEAT OTHER WHITE FAMILIES DOWN. This carelessness and constant forgetfulness is what really irks me and I probably wont be going to macs much because of it. And not to mention, my sister also left a positive review, hoping for macs to reply because they replied to a lot of people, but hers was the only one without one. A petty thing but something to mention. The mac daddy burger is an amazing burger, but some of the staff—are not. And while Im at it, the fish and chips are absolutely terrible. Chewy, not fresh at all, and a weird bland taste. This review may not even be seen by anyone, but Im more than happy to share my...
Read moreWe love Mac’s Diner, have been there often. Tonight, Sept. 10, my adult son and I went to dinner there about 5:30. Our friendly server told us the specials, we each ordered a drink and then ordered the wings special (all you can eat) and a Mac Daddy burger. Our server did tell us that we could not take leftover chicken wings home if doing the special…made sense. First time I had ordered the wings there. Food came lickety split. Delicious, too. We were both very pleased with our choices. While we were eating, the manager on duty, I guess, interrupted us to tell us that I could not share my wings with my son, nor take any home. We were both stunned by her lack of tact and felt she was scolding us. Felt accused - like I did something wrong, I had given a wing to my son to taste the Asian chili sauce, it was yummy. She killed our mood after that. I did continue to share another wing with my son when I ordered a new rub, as he was curious about the rubs. We both had our own meals, and if I wanted to share something I should have been able to do so without being told I couldn’t! I did not see “rules” posted or on the menu. It’s not like we had ordered only one special for the two of us and kept ordering more and more wings. That is not what we did. I didn’t want to bring up the manager’s issues to our server as we didn’t need to rehash more of that negativity. But her approach did leave a bad taste in my mouth. Was she watching us eat our dinner? Many people ordered the special. Are we not allowed to give/share bites or pieces of our meals with those we’re dining with - we all do that!? Seriously. Disappointed by the manager’s actions, words, tone. Giving 1 star for service because of the manger’s interruption, not the server - I left her a...
Read moreMy Mom and I had breakfast between 8:30am - 9am on a Saturday morning. The restaurant was not busy (approx 12-15 tables occupied inside, 4-5 outside), and we were seated with zero wait time. We each ordered the Classic Breakfast (two eggs, hashbrowns or breakfast potatoes, choice of sausage or bacon, choice of toast); in addition, we split Pancakes (three buttermilk pancakes topped with whipped butter, served with maple syrup and choice of bacon or sausage). Food came out quickly (~10 mins), but waitress misordered my potatoes, which was corrected immediately (she apologized profusely when she brought the right item). Unfortunately, everything had a very unpleasant taste: potatoes, pancakes, sausages, eggs, english muffins ... everything;, as if ransid butter or expired flaxseed oil was used on the grill, tainting whatever was cooked upon the flat-top. In addition, the pancakes had zero flavor, as if it was straight Bisquick, devoid of any sweetness (which syrup could not mask). The establishment is visually impressive, comfortable, and service is very good ... but a restaurant's foundation is its food, and Mac's breakfast is underwhelming at best. [My most mediocre unmemorable McD's breakfasts have been better than this one at Mac's. Sorry, not sorry; candor is necessary for restaurant critiques. Multiple Google reviews from other patrons over the last 9+ months give credence to Mac's bad breakfasts, so apparently nothing has improved despite management claiming to "look into improving" things.] This was our first visit, and will be our last; we...
