🌟 Unforgettable Café Experience – Worth Every Mile! 🌟
I patronized this café today, and it was unbelievable. From the moment you walk in, you’re wrapped in elegance—the art on the walls, the thoughtfully curated décor, and most of all, the stunning portrait of the owner’s mother that seems to lovingly watch over you as you savor each sip and bite in the perfect ambiance.
FOOD – TEA – MATCHA: 150/10. Yes, you read that right. I drove all the way from Chicago on my day off, and I fell in love. I started with an iced mango jasmine tea—freshly brewed to order (no pitchers here!). It was vibrant, refreshing, and made with such care, I had to order a second one to-go. It’s rare to find that level of quality and intention in every single drink.
Just tried matcha for the first time, and I’m officially hooked. I went with the blueberry cobbler matcha, and wow—my taste buds were on another level. It was so good I had to share it with my husband and son… and before I knew it, we were all splitting it! The ingredients tasted so fresh. If I lived nearby, I’d be grabbing one every single day.
I also ordered the beef and chicken Vietnamese egg rolls to take home, and when I reheated them in the oven at 350°, my taste buds went to heaven. They were so good, I was reluctant to share with my husband (thankfully I ordered two of each!).
As if that wasn’t enough, I grabbed a bowl of Pho for dinner and haven’t even had it yet—but based on everything else, I know I’m in for a treat. And let’s not forget dessert: I snagged a maple pecan croissant (shared a bite with my husband and instantly regretted not getting more) and a rocky road turtle brownie—which I’m saving as my grand finale.
The owner was so warm and welcoming—we even sat and chatted while I enjoyed my tea. It’s not just the food that makes this place special; it’s the people behind it. The staff is phenomenal, personable, and genuinely passionate about their craft.
We’re already planning our next visit. Please—support this beautiful business. It’s rare to find a café that makes you feel this seen, this cared for, and this full of joy. I only wish there was one in the city, but as long as I have gas in my car, I’ll keep making the trip.
💛 So proud. So impressed. So ready...

Today, Renee and Tracey Gillis along with their family and friends held a beautiful ribbon-cutting ceremony with mayor Anthony Copeland of East Chicago and the community to celebrate the grand opening of their newest business venture — The GOAT CA’ PHE located at 3727 Main Street in East Chicago.
The event was a huge success! Family, friends, and community members came out in full support, filling the space with love, laughter, and excitement. Both Tracey and Renee gave heartfelt speeches, sharing their vision for the CA’ PHE and their desire to give back to the city of East Chicago by creating welcoming spaces for family, friends and community.
This Goat CA’ PHE isn’t just about great drinks — though there was an impressive selection of coffees, tea, smoothies, pastries, and more!
I dare not forget to mention the exclusive Five Star Egg Rolls that are off the charts! The Egg Rolls are from a recipe that Renee got from her mother. You can eat in or get a carryout.
The GOAT CA’ PHE offers a family-friendly atmosphere where you can bring your laptop, play a game of chess, checkers or backgammon or just kick back and relax with friends.
Even better, just down the street, Tracey and Renee also own and operate a laundromat (Big Bubbles)— another valuable addition to the neighborhood. While your clothes are washing or drying, you can take a break walk or drive down to the CA’ PHE for a fresh cup of coffee, tea, smoothie, delicious egg rolls or another delicious entree.
Together, the Goat CA’ PHE and the Big Bubbles laundromat are a sign of positive growth and local entrepreneurship at its finest.
Great job, Tracey and Renee! We’re proud of you and excited for what’s ahead. — Travis...
Read moreI came across this place on Google maps in a search for "pastries near me", a toll, bridge, and unfamiliar drive later I had arrived. I was pleased to learn they had recently opened and the lady at the register (one of the sisters) invited me to view the patio. The entire atmosphere was absolutely welcoming and beautiful. I loved that they had games available to play. I got the chocolate croissant which was good and interesting in that it had a bit of fruit inside - I liked it! And the Vietnamese egg rolls were SO delicious. One customer had an iced hot chocolate that looked very good, I'll have to get that next time. Congratulations to the 2 sisters👏👏👏 I'm glad I came across this place! Oh and they lovingly have a picture of their beautiful mother on the wall, the family love is...
