My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant Friday night, it was our first time there. We were greeted, and then seated. The waitress came over with menus, she gave us time to decide what we wanted to order. I ordered a short stack of pancakes, with an order of french fries. He ordered a chicken salad. While waiting for our food, we went to use the restroom. Upon entering the restroom I noticed a very bad odor, like sewage. It almost made me sick to my stomach. I really had to go, so I held my breath and went. My instincts told me to tell my boyfriend that we should leave, but it was late, in the 11 o'clock hour, and I was hungry. The restaurant dining area didn't smell. The food had come out once we were back at our table. It looked appetizing, but the worst was yet to come. I put butter and syrup on my pancakes, cut them up, and ate a couple of bites. The third bite didn't taste good, I thought that it was the syrup. So I smelled it, and it had a weird smell. I asked him to smell it, and he noticed it as well. I stopped eating immediately. I tasted my french fries, and they weren't hot, they were room temperature, I didn't eat anymore. Thankfully he didn't mix his dressing into his salad, because the tomatoes were rotten, and the boiled eggs looked like they'd been boiled last week. They had more cheese on the salad than I'd been used to seeing. I think that it was to cover up the rotten vegetables. Most of the time people pour their dressing over the salad and mix it together, he didn't do that. He had only eaten a couple of bites as well. I asked for the manager, I showed her his salad and asked her if she would eat it, and she said no. I said to her, if we can see that this is rotten, the cook who prepared it also saw that it was rotten. She offered to make us something else. I told her that we didn't want anything else. When I mentioned to her about the syrup, she told me that it's poured fresh into a container daily. Well the cup that I had wasn't fresh. She didn't charge us for our meal. Before we walked out, I told her that they shouldn't be open, and they need a visit from the board of health. She said that she would let the owner know of my concerns. This place needs to be shut down IMMEDIATELY!! They need a visit from Chef Gordon Ramsay, along with the Board of Health. They are putting customer's health at risk, and...
Read more👎👎 This was the worst dining experience I'd had in years. We were a large party and it seemed the waitress was only interested in getting out orders to the table at one time. We were served dinner rolls and silverware - nothing to place the dinner rolls on unless you wanted to use one of the napkins in the basket. When we requested plates she banged them across the tables like it was a big nuisance. With dinner there were three choices of soup, clam chowder, Greek lemon rice, and chicken noodle. 🐡🍲Three of us selected the clam chowder however we were served Greek lemon rice when we pointed out the error she insisted that that was New England clam chowder. She said most people confused the lemon rice with the clam chowder but it was Chowder . There wasn't a piece of potato or a piece of clam to be found in our bowls however I did find many grains of rice, pieces of carrot and the flavor of lemon throughout the base of the very delicious soup! - but this was definitely not clam chowder! When our entrees were served my disappointment only increased. I'd ordered the NY strip steak with baked potato with chives and sour cream. 🥔 The potato was barely warm and there were no chives. I decided I was tired of complaining I would skip the potato and eat my steak- however others were upset about the temperature of their potatos also and spoke out, so I gave the waitress my potato back as well. I cut into my perfectly cooked steak only to discover that it wasn't as warm as the potato had been!!! Our waitress who was never available of course could not be found again. I stood and took my plate directly to the cashier's counter spoke to the manager and asked if she could have someone on the grill warm my steak. When I returned to the table I found a steaming hot baked potato waiting for me and a few minutes later my steak was returned also very hot. They were both great but I could not wait to leave this very very disappointing establishment. I will never return and I will never recommend the Purple Steer on Indianapolis Boulevard in...
Read moreThis place is awesome for breakfast food! They are open 24 hours a day. They have the best pancakes I've ever had; restaurant pancakes are usually lumpy or doughy and bland tasting, the pancakes they serve here have a nice vanilla flavor (not over powering or cake flavored, but a nice hint of sweetness that pairs well with their whipped butter and maple syrup that's served in a small personal pouring cup) and they are fluffy and perfectly golden brown. Best. Pancakes. Ever. Also, their melting pot skillets are an all in one meal that I could eat at any time. Delicious. The eggs (in any meal) are always cooked to perfection, no matter how you like them. They serve some of the best restaurant coffee I've ever had. The orange juice is refreshing, not watered down like most places. The biscuits and gravy is also some of the best I've ever had. Not overly spiced up, but enough for a good comforting flavor. They make their bacon exactly how you like it. The one thing I am a little disappointed about is the breakfast sausage; its like "brown n serve" kind instead of the kind that's in a casing. The prices are reasonable. I spent less than forty bucks on three and a half breakfast meals, that we were able to eat at the place then took some home and still had enough for a filling left-over plate for three people (plus scraps for my dog to have a good breakfast too!). Definitely recommend this place for breakfast at any time of day. Our favorite waitress is Renee, she's friendly and helpful, not overly talkative, polite and charming, kept our cups full and our table clean of debris, very professional disposition. Most of the other waitresses are very nice as well, all very easy going and you can tell they're not those waitresses that are trying too hard to earn their tips (by talking too much and asking too many questions when you have a mouth full of food, this place hires naturally friendly people that easily get along well...
