Excellent Italian food in Northampton! I'm vegan and it's hard to find restaurants if I want to eat out in my area. I typically have to travel to Allentown or Bethlehem if I want vegan food.
They're really understanding when I have asked to modify meals and have always made the food perfectly!
My favorite is the Eggplant Parmigiana without cheese. It's a huge portion and fried perfectly. Crispy golden brown all the way around the eggplant slices. The marinara sauce is ok, it feels like it needs more garlic but I love the eggplant so much it makes up for the mild sauce. It comes with a roll and a side of pasta. Delicious and I always leave with leftovers!
I tried the fried cauliflower appetizer. It's a winner, perfectly breaded and steaming hot!
The bruschetta pizza with no cheese is a must if you love garlic! Great flavor and thin crispy crust. I also enjoyed the vegetarian pizza without cheese. It also has fried eggplant on it. The portions are huge so I suggest sharing a pizza with another person.
The staff are delightful and sweet. The owner answered all of my questions about what had dairy or egg and what didn't. They're really nice and work hard to make people happy.
The menu is large, so there is a lot to choose from. They have soft drinks and iced tea (regular, sweet and raspberry) as well as bottled beverages. I usually get raspberry iced tea as a treat when I eat out.
Cons: you have to modify a lot of things (asking for no cheese) if you're vegan. But that's typical for this area. They serve veal so they can't be listed on vegan apps...
Read moreThe food is good, but I have to say for an honest review that when the owner isn't there, the orders are wrong many times and the food gets assembled incorrectly. Last night I ordered extra meat on my Italian hoagie ant the meat was less than 1.5mm thick. The time before, I ordered a meatball parm hoagie with extra sauce. I got a dry meatball hoagie with no sauce or cheese and the order was late. I waited an extra 10 minutes after I got there when I was already 15 minutes late picking it up. They said they are still working on it. When it was finished I watched them bag it on the back counter. The incorrectly prepared hoagie was not even hot, just barely over room temperature. I keep suggesting to them how I want my food when I call an order in, but I am becoming fatigued with wrong orders. These are not the only 2 examples, just the ones mentioned. To sum it up, when the owner is not in the restaurant, the food is generally much later than the quoted time and the food is incorrect. The place is clean and the food is awesome when made to expectations. I hope to continue buisness with them, but it is not...
Read moreThe employees at Palermos Italian Grill are just as amazing as the food is. Tonight, I was across the street doing laundry and lost track of time. It was 9;15 pm, and I was supposed to bring home 2 pizzas for my family. I called to see if they were still open, and one of the employees answered and very happily took my order. I said, "Are you sure it's not too late?" And he said "naaah it's no problem at all! We're happy to make it for you!" So when I got there at 9:30 pm, I asked them what time they closed, and they said, "You really wanna know? Well, we actually closed at 9 pm." I said," Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry!" They said,"Oh no, don't apologize. If we're still here, we'll make the pizza for you. " They continued to tell me how much they appreciated me for being a customer, and they didn't even know me! So I want to say thank you to the wonderful workers who served me that night. You are the two of the most amazing people I've ever had the pleasure of doing...
